National Identity Card of Nepal

 

The "National Identity Card" is a digital solution for a person's identity verification. Being a digital specialty, in today's modern age, it is of great importance as it can be used for various purposes by linking it with public service. Many countries have a policy of implementing it successfully in their own country and in some countries, it is being used successfully. All citizens should get such a digital identity card without discrimination, which also supports national inclusion.

1. What is a national ID?

A National Identity Card is a biometric, multipurpose certificate containing national identity, including personal and biological details of citizens.

2. What is the purpose of establishing a National Identity Card and Registration Department?

  • Provide multipurpose national identity card with a national identification number, based on the data that will be used to control, utilize and control the safe storage of data and records from the electronic system by opening the identification of personal and biological details of Nepali citizens.

4. What is the purpose of the national ID card system?

  • To provide a multipurpose biometric smart card with national identity to Nepali citizens.
  •  Formulate the necessary infrastructure, policies, and laws to issue national ID cards.
  • To allocate the services provided by the Government of Nepal to the Nepalese citizens in the national identity card system and to use the data and records obtained from that system in policy and planning.

5. What qualifications are required to obtain a national ID card, and what are the requirements for obtaining it?

The following qualification is required to get the National Identity Card -

  • 16 years old
  • Obtained a certificate of Nepali citizenship.
  • The person who is eligible to receive the ID must submit the application in the format prescribed to the body or officer designated by the National Identity Card and Registration Department At the time of making the application, the person or the person desiring to obtain the identity card should provide the digital picture, a 10-digit line with both hands, digital Lapchase print, signature and personal and biological details.

6. How does a Nepali citizen benefit from a national ID card?

Citizens can use the national ID for the following purposes:

  • As a person's national identity card.
  • As a voter ID card.
  • As the basis for receiving all kinds of public services.
  • As a Social Security card.
  • As a helpful archive for security management.

7. Who can be a national ID user?

The following people use a national ID -

  • Nepalese citizens
  • Service Provider Bodies ·
  • Security Investigations and Judicial Bodies
  • Other persons and organizations as may be specified by law

8. Where is the national ID issued?

From the National Identity Card and Registration Department at Singha Durbar, the identity card is prepared and distributed in each district from the District Administration Offices or from the designated place by the National Identity Card and Registration Department.

9. What is a biological and personal identity?

In the context of national identity cards, biological identity means a person's photo and a fingerprint. Personal identity includes a person's name, surname, address, age, gender, and other personal details.

10. What is Chips and Why is this used?

Chips are a method of preserving data stored on the back of a national ID card. Chips can be stored in sufficient quantities to contain details and statistics of various types. Apart from the details related to the national ID card, other details like PAN, Driving License, poor identity card can be reserved.

11. How is the confidentiality of personal details contained in the national ID card ensured?

Where necessary, the person concerned can use his / her details but privacy is ensured so that different bodies can use it only as prescribed by law.

There is a provision to record the identity of the person for whose purpose the details are contained in the national identity card system.

12. How can a copy be obtained if the national identity card is lost?

If the National Identity Card is lost, if it fails, or if it does not come into use for any reason, then the National Identity Card will be made available as a copy, after recommendation by the local body through the concerned district administration office, as per the reason.

13. How do people with non-citizens get an ID?

At present, there is a provision for obtaining a national identity card on the basis of the citizenship certificate.

14. What is a national identification number?

The National Identification Number is the national identification number used to easily identify each person. Individual Unique Numbers, also known as Individual Unique Numbers, are kept individually in the index provided separately to each individual.

15. Which body plays a role in the distribution of national ID cards?

The District Administration Office and the local level work on collecting the details required for the National Identity Card and sending it to the Department.
