Use and Opportunity of Multimedia During COVID-19:

To inform the learning system that has been disrupted due to the high infection rate of COVID-19 and to ensure that children of school-going age are not regularly enrolled in school and college; In order to create a learning environment conducive to one's local family environment, it is an important opportunity to get quality education by making extensive use of multimedia in teaching and learning through alternative systems.

Teachers, facilitators, and parents have an important role to play in motivating the learners to learn student-friendly teaching by making extensive use of multimedia even in the home environment outside the school at a time when the coronavirus infection is increasing day by day.

 The use of multimedia makes learning entertaining and interactive. Multimedia includes characters, images, audio, video, and animation. Despite the high Covid-19 transition rate for achieving expected behaviors and positive quality educational achievement, the development of unlimited technology has created a paradigm shift in teaching and learning.

Considering this fact, it seems necessary to use multimedia through various technological tools available. The fact that the current curriculum is computer-based shows the huge importance of multimedia in students' learning. If video clips of any subject are provided, the understanding of the subject can be accurate, real, and reliable.

Use:

  • Multimedia can be used according to the age, ability, and level of the students.
  • The use of multimedia reduces students' distaste, rumors, verbal descriptions and is based on reality and objectivity.
  • The use of multimedia helps to make learning achievable, useful for life, positive, and sustainable.
  • The use of multimedia is suitable for overcoming the monotony of monotonous learning.
  • There is general psychology that the effectiveness of learning through video clips will be more, so its use seems appropriate.
  • The use of multimedia in learning promotes accurate communication of information and students' interest in learning for a longer period of time.
  • Audio / Video Learning lasts a long time.
  • Video clips or photographs or pictures to arouse interest in the subject should be used appropriately.
  • Multimedia should be used only after purchasing the devices under Multimedia according to the capacity of one's parents and getting all the information related to the use of the equipment.
  • The devices that contain multimedia should be cleaned from time to time and kept in a safe and dry place.
  • If the equipment is damaged or needs to be repaired, the equipment should be repaired at the equipment repair center at a physical or social distance.

Opportunity:

  • Access to mobile and mobile, home-to-home internet and computer and multimedia from village to village is increasing.
  • Due to more competitive service providers, not only food is available but also access to food (poor people).
  • Due to the use of multimedia, easy access to teaching and learning, the quality of learning is increasing.
  • The use of multimedia has widened the scope of education in such a way that learning is becoming possible even for those who want to learn and improve their skills in remote villages.
  • Helps to manage personal learning and self-learning.
  • Teaching provides flexibility in learning. Provides learning opportunities anywhere and anytime.
  • The use of multimedia in various technical devices such as mobile, television, computer, laptop, CD / DVD player, projector, social media, etc., helps in the teaching-learning interactive and child-centered learning process.

Conclusion:

Learning is a lifelong process no matter how long it takes. Learning is about changing behavior. The learner's personal will, interest and receptivity are strong foundations for learning achievement. The use of multimedia seems to be indispensable to make learning need-oriented, vital, student-friendly, to present a variety of information accurately and realistically, to arouse interest in learning, to sustain acquired skills, knowledge for a long time, and to make students competitive.

Even at a time when the rate of coronavirus infection is high, students need to adhere to all standards of health and hygiene, access to technology and develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The learning technology brought by Paradigm Shift in learning should be used. Technologies such as mobiles, projectors, computers, photos, and the use of multimedia by the teacher's interlocutor make learning as effective as possible.

In this way, if multimedia is used extensively in learning, the sustainability in learning can be increased and a competent based curriculum can be expected to produce as many competent learners as desired.
