Guru Purnima

Happy Guru Purnima: Today, on the day of Ashadh Shukla Purnima, Gayatri, Diksha, recitation of Vedic mantras and teaching of Guru Purnima is being celebrated by showing respect to the teachers.

‘Gu’ means darkness and ‘Ru’ means light. The person who destroys the darkness of ignorance by the light of knowledge is mentioned in Tantra Shastra and Dharmashastra as Guru.

The person who destroys the darkness and spreads light in life is called Guru. Such a guru is considered by our scriptures in the form of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar. That is why it is said in various texts.

Gururbrahma Gururvishnu Gururdevo Maheshwar:

Guru: Sakshat Par Brahma Tasmai Shri Gurve Nam:

Like the parents, the Guru has also considered a deity and is called 'Acharya Devo Bhava.

On the occasion of Guru Purnima, various schools and organizations have been holding programs on this day to pay homage to the teacher who imparts education and initiation. However, this year, public programs have been held to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Today, the Vedas are divided into four parts, the Rig Veda, the Yajurveda, the Sama Veda and the Atharva Veda. As Veda Vyas was born on the full moon day of Ashadh Shukla, Vyas Jayanti is celebrated on this day.

Vyas has tried to convey the following message through Puranas and Upa Puranas:

‘Ashtadasa Puraneshu Vyasasya Vachan Dvayam. Paropkar Punyaya, Papaya Parpidanam '.

In other words, humanitarians have given the message that doing good to others is a religion and hurting others is a sin. Vyas also composed the Mahabharata, also known as the Fifth Veda.

As the risk of corona with new variants remains high to celebrate Gurupurnima and Vyas Jayanti this year, it is being celebrated by maintaining physical distance and adopting health safety standards. It is said that some schools and institutions are celebrating Gurupurnima and Vyas Jayanti through zoom technology.
