The National Examination Board (NEB) has decided to conduct the final examination of class 12 in different modalities till the month of Bhadra. However, as the coronavirus infection has not been brought under control, the NEB has stated that the decision will be made after evaluating the condition for some time. NEB has also started homework to conduct the exam in a different modality than last year.
NEB chairperson Prof Chandra Mani Poudel said that the board was in a wait-and-see situation for the rest of the year. He said that the examination is likely to be held by Bhadra and it will be held in a different modality than last year.
The board is ready to take the exam from the old model even after waiting for a few months as it will be difficult to certify the students without the exam as it is the final exam of class 12 school level.
The board has all the authority to conduct the final examination of class 12. As the way is open for students to study higher education, it is said that they have to take exams in class 12.
The NEB had made public the schedule of the class 12 examination from the last 26th of Jestha but it was postponed due to corona. This time, it is seen that the time of those students will be delayed for only three months. He said that a lot of time of class 12 students has not been wasted as no bachelor level admission has been opened in any university at present.
The university has admitted new students at the undergraduate level only last February. Class 12 exams will be held in different modalities. Last year, the final result of class 12 was taken on the basis of the class 11 examination by taking a written test of only 40 marks. Internal assessment was also considered as the basis for the final examination. The board is going to make different modalities for the class 12 examination this time.
Chairman of the NEB Board Poudel clarified that this time the examination of the students studying in class 12 will not be held in the same modality as last year as the examination was conducted by the school and not by the board. This time, the board has a homework to make different modalities for the exam.
Similarly, the board has stated that the final assessment of students studying in class 11 across the country should be done within Ashad. The board has informed that the students of class 12 will be able to conduct their studies from August after the assessment of the students within Ashad.
The NEB has already given the right to the school to evaluate the class 11 examination procedure last year. The procedure also mentions the deadline for the final annual assessment of the student within Ashad. Poudel said that there was no need to say anything more this time as the procedure has already been clarified.
