Overview

Based on the report of the High-Level Commission for the Restructuring of Local Bodies constituted by the Government of Nepal for the restructuring of local bodies in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal, 2072 BS. According to which, the former Kapilakot, Kalpabriksha and Mahadevsthan 3 VDCs located in the western part of Sindhuli district have formed Marin Rural Municipality (मरिण गाउँपालिका, सिन्धुली). The naming of this rural municipality is based on the famous river Marin Khola of Sindhuli district. It is bounded by the Kamalamai municipality on the east, Hariharpurgadhi rural municipality on the west, Kavre district, and Ghyanglekh rural municipality on the north and Sarlahi district on the south. The total geographical area of this municipality is 324.55 sq km. And ward number 7.

Geographically, there are plains, Chure area, Khola Kholsi, high Hocho Danda Kanda to Mahabharat Range. The village is bordered by the Marin River in the central part, the Mahabharata Range in the north, and the Chure Range in the south.

The total population of this rural municipality is 27,822. From the point of view of human consciousness and physical, economic, and infrastructure development, this Marin rural municipality seems to be lagging behind. In terms of tourism, Panchakanya Pond, Thakur Darwar, Dhuri Dhunga, and Tudikhel are considered as places of historical significance. These places also belong to this village.

Located between the Chure Range to the south and the Mahabharata Mountains to the north, the Marin Gorge area is important in terms of biodiversity and natural resources. Irrigated by various small and large rivers, including the Marin River, this area has been known in the district since ancient times as a storehouse of grain and livestock products.

In this region which is dependent on traditional agriculture, the practice of commercial cultivation of animal husbandry, vegetables, and fruits is increasing. And accordingly, demand is also increasing. Work is being done to formulate long-term and short-term plans in line with the goal of making self-employment, employment, and agri-entrepreneurs by increasing the production and productivity of comparatively profitable crops through agri-commercialization by making maximum use of the biodiversity and natural resources available here.

In this rural municipality, pocket area and block programs are being implemented under the Prime Minister's Agriculture Modernization Project, and initiatives are being taken to run agriculture zone programs. In this village municipality, the organic college of the University of Agriculture and Forest Sciences, Marin Natural Resource Management College, Bagmati Pradesh has been operating at the standard level. It is hoped that this college will help in the development of agriculture in the region. The main occupation here is agriculture.
