Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) Projected GDP Rate of All Provinces

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has projected that the economic growth rate of Bagmati will increase by 6.7 percent in the current fiscal year 2078-79. Bagmati Province is estimated to contribute 36.9 percent to the gross domestic product (GDP) with the highest amount of Rs 1.79 trillion. Karnali Province has the lowest share of Nepal's economy. Karnali Province contributes 4.1 percent or Rs 198 billion to the country's gross domestic product.

Last year, Bagmati Province accounted for only 37.7 percent of the GDP. The data of the department has shown that the contribution to the GDP of Bagmati Province has decreased compared to the last fiscal year. Ganesh Prasad Acharya, director of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), said that the economic growth rate at the province level was close to the national economic growth rate. He said that Bagmati Province has contributed the most to Nepal's GDP at the provincial level.

CBS has projected that the economic growth rate of Bagmati Province will increase by 6.7 percent in the current Fiscal Year 2078/79. Similarly, the economic growth rate of Gandaki Province is 6.17 percent, Karnali 5.47 percent, Province 1 5.41 percent, Lumbini 5.36 percent, Sudurpashchim 4.93 percent, and Madhes Province 4.82 percent. Bagmati Province also has the largest share of GDP.

The share of this province in GDP is 36.9 percent, Province 1 is 15.7 percent, Lumbini is 14.1 percent, Madhes is 13.2 percent, Gandaki is 8.9 percent, Sudurpashchim is 7 percent and Karnali Province is 4.1 percent. According to the department, the country's gross domestic product (in consumer prices) has increased by 5.8 percent this fiscal year. It had increased by 4.2 percent in the last fiscal year. In this Fiscal Year, the national annual gross domestic product is estimated to be 48.52 trillion rupees (in consumer price).

In the previous financial year, Bagmati accounted for 37.7 percent, Province 1 15.6 percent, Gandaki Province 8.7 percent, Lumbini Province 14.0 percent, Madhes Province 13.2 percent, Sudurpashchim Province 6.9 percent, and Karnali Province 4.0 percent. 

Based on 18 main indicators including economic activity and administrative data for the first six months of the current fiscal year, the contribution of GDP at the provincial level and the economic growth rate has been made public. The department has stated that the data has been measured considering the fiscal year 2077/78 as the base year.

The gross domestic product of Province 1 is estimated to reach Rs. 763 billion. Last fiscal year, the gross domestic product of the province was Rs. 676 billion. The province, which achieved an economic growth rate of 4.3 percent last fiscal year, aims to achieve a growth rate of 5.4 percent this fiscal year.

Similarly, Lumbini Province has estimated to reach Rs 684 billion, Madhes Province Rs 644 billion, Gandaki Province Rs 432 billion, Sudurpashchim Province Rs 339 billion, and Karnali Province Rs 198 billion.

The growth rate of Madhes Province is estimated to be 4.8 percent in the current Fiscal Year as compared to 3.8 percent in the previous Fiscal Year.

Similarly, the economic growth rate of Gandaki Province is estimated to reach 6.2 percent. Last fiscal year, the province achieved an economic growth rate of 3.7 percent. Lumbini Province, which achieved an economic growth rate of 4.1 percent last year, is expected to maintain a current economic growth of 5.4 percent.

Similarly, the department has projected a growth rate of 5.5 percent in the current fiscal year as against 4.3 percent in the previous fiscal year. Similarly, Sudurpashchim has achieved an economic growth rate of 4.2 percent in the last fiscal year, which is estimated to be 4.9 percent in the current fiscal year.

Bagmami has the highest contribution of 36.9 percent to the GDP.

Similarly, Province 1 has 15.9 per cent, Lumbini 14.1 per cent, Madhes 13.2 per cent, Gandaki 8.9 per cent, Sudurpashchim 9 per cent and Karnali 4.1 per cent.

Province Wise Situation:

Province 1: The gross domestic product (GDP) of Province 1 is estimated to be around Rs. The state is estimated to contribute 15.7 percent to the national gross domestic product. Similarly, the GDP growth rate was 4.3 percent in the last fiscal year and is expected to improve to 5.4 percent this fiscal year.

Madhes Pradesh: The gross domestic product (GDP) of Madhes Pradesh is estimated to be around Rs. The state, which accounted for 13.4 percent of GDP at the national level last fiscal year, is expected to contribute 13.3 percent this fiscal year. Similarly, the growth rate of GDP was 3.8 percent in the last fiscal year and is expected to improve to 4.8 percent this fiscal year. The highest contribution of 34.3 percent to the GDP is made by the agriculture sector while the lowest contribution is 0.2 percent from the mining and quarrying sector.

Bagmati Pradesh: The gross domestic product (GDP) of this state is estimated to be around Rs. The state, which accounted for 37.7 percent of GDP at the national level last fiscal year, is expected to contribute 36.9 percent this fiscal year. Similarly, the GDP growth rate was 4.6 percent in the last fiscal year and is expected to improve to 6.7 percent this fiscal year. Wholesale and retail trade accounted for 25.1 percent of the GDP and arts and entertainment accounted for the least.

Gandaki Pradesh: The gross domestic product (GDP) of this state is estimated to be around Rs. As in the previous fiscal year, the state is expected to contribute 8.9 percent to the national gross domestic product in the current fiscal year as well. Similarly, the GDP growth rate was 3.7 percent in the last fiscal year and is expected to improve to 6.2 percent this fiscal year.

Lumbini Pradesh: The gross domestic product (GDP) of the state is estimated to be around Rs 685 billion in the current fiscal year, compared to the revised estimate of Rs 641 billion in the last fiscal year. The state, which accounted for 14.1 percent of GDP at the national level last fiscal year, is expected to contribute the same percentage this fiscal year as well. Similarly, the GDP growth rate was 4.1 percent in the last fiscal year and is expected to improve to 5.4 percent this fiscal year.

Karnali Pradesh: The gross domestic product (GDP) of Karnali Pradesh is estimated to be around Rs. 198 billion while the revised estimate for the last fiscal year is around Rs. As in the previous year, the state is estimated to account for 4.1 percent of GDP at the national level. Similarly, the GDP growth rate was 4.3 percent in the last fiscal year and is projected to improve to 5.5 percent this fiscal year.

Sudurpashchim Province: The gross domestic product (GDP) of Sudurpashchim Province is estimated to be around Rs. As in the previous year, the state is estimated to contribute 7.0 percent of the GDP at the national level. Similarly, the growth rate of GDP was 4.2 percent in the last fiscal year and it is estimated to improve to 4.9 percent this fiscal year.
