Government Prepares to add Manpower to the Armed Police Force of Nepal

Home Minister Bal Krishna Khan has said that the government is serious about providing manpower to the Armed Police Force, which has an important responsibility for the security of the country and the people. Addressing a function organized here today after inspecting the Armed Police Force Nepal at Halchowk in Kathmandu, Home Minister Khan pointed out the need to increase the number of border security posts, increase the capacity of the police and upgrade the existing posts.

He assured that the Government of Nepal was serious about increasing manpower, resources, and capacity and that the Armed Police Force was not alone in working in every field. Minister Khan expressed hope that he would fulfill his duties with more responsibilities in the coming days.

"The government will take all possible initiatives to make the Armed Police Force resourceful. I assure the Ministry of Nepal to take it seriously," said Minister Khan. He said the government was working seriously on how to protect ordinary Nepalis as the Corona effect was still a serious challenge.

He directed the Armed Police Force to take the lives of the people more seriously. Minister Khan clarified that the government cannot get away from the problems of the Nepali people as saving their lives is the first responsibility. He said, "Protecting the lives of ordinary citizens is the first responsibility of all of us, so all security agencies in Nepal should take the initiative seriously." He appreciated the role played by health workers, cleaners and security personnel in the difficult situation including the Corona epidemic. Minister Mining stressed on the need for all to be vigilant as there is still a threat of a third wave of Corona in the country.

Minister Khanna lauded the role played by the trusted and reliable security forces armed for the security of the country and the people. He appreciated the contribution of the police personnel in carrying out their duties to protect the territory even in difficult conditions.

Home Minister Khan said that the Armed Police Force has played an important role in controlling smuggling and drug trafficking by actively working for the defense of the Nepali people and Nepal and has made a significant contribution in reducing revenue leakage and increasing revenue.

Stating that the duty of protecting the people has been appreciated all over the world amidst limited resources, Home Minister Khan said that the Armed Police Force has played the same role in the security of every sector. He also said that the armed forces had done a remarkable job in rescuing and saving lives in the event of an accident. He said that the role of the armed forces was also important for the security of the project of national pride and control of violent activities.

Stressing that no anti-Nepal activities should take place, he stressed the role of Nepal's neutrality as Nepal believes in the principles of Panchsheel and non-aligned policy. He also instructed the Armed Police Force to move forward with a concrete policy and action plan.

Home Secretary Teknaran Pandey lauded the contribution made by the Armed Police Force Nepal in various responsibilities including peace and security and service to the common man, border security, disaster relief, Covid-19 epidemic management.

At the ceremony, Inspector General of Armed Police Shailendra Khanal said that the organization was moving forward following the policy of zero tolerance on corruption, human rights violations, and sexual violence. Inspector General Khanal said that the Armed Police Force was contributing to peace and security, service to the common man, border security, and rescue of disaster victims.
