Council of Ministers Decides to Establish Shaheed Dashrath Chand National University of Health Sciences in Kailali's Geta Medical College
The decision of the Council of Ministers to establish Shaheed Dashrath Chand National University of Health Sciences in Geta Medical College has initiated further proceedings by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. With the physical progress of the college reaching its final stage, the government has started accelerating construction and land management.
Drafting a Bill for University Establishment
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has formed a committee consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Law, the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, and local experts from the Far West Province to draft a bill for university establishment. The committee has been tasked with conducting a separate study on necessary manpower, physical structure, and more.
Accelerated Construction
The construction of the 600-bed hospital and medical college has reached its final stage, with 28 modern buildings being constructed. The government has invested five billion 40 million rupees so far for construction, and it is estimated to cost seven and a half billion rupees when the construction of the structure is completed. Construction has been started on 13 packages, with seven packages already completed, and a contract for the construction of six packages to be completed by March 2080.
Model for the University
Although there has been no concrete discussion on the model to be taken to the university, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has said that the university's model will be decided only after the bill is taken to the parliament. Madan Bhandari Technical University and Yogmaya University have adopted the presidential system, while most currently operating universities have the Prime Minister as the Chancellor and the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology as the Vice-Chancellor, and the Vice-Chancellor as the Executive Head.
