NATHM Studying Ethnic Cuisine in Nepal:

Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) has succeeded in introducing a leading organization in the tourism industry to produce skilled human resources.

The foundation has so far provided quality self-employment educational programs and training to 54,000 people through various training programs.

NATHM, established on 13th Chaitra 2029 BS and affiliated with Tribhuvan University, has been providing post-graduate studies, research as well as consulting services related to HR development in the tourism sector.

Expanding its branches in Jhapa's Birtamod, Mahottari's Bardibas, and Banke's Nepalgunj, NATHM has been conducting training and educational programs in more than 50 different types of hotel management, both short and long term.

NATHM is providing various training related to the tourism sector for domestic and foreign tourists, including cooking, providing welcome and hospitality, running a travel agency, and booking tickets.

The NATHM has been providing dozens of types of training including mountaineering training, tourist guide training, housekeeping training, small and lodge management training, local guides, guest hospitality, and food quality security.

It is said that more than 540 students are enrolled in the educational program every year.

About 95 percent of the manpower produced by NATHM so far has been able to enter the world market easily. Ninety-five percent of the workforce is employed in world markets, including the Gulf and Europe.

Especially in the Gulf countries including Malaysia, Qatar, Dubai, and European markets, the manpower produced from here is finding employment easily.

Even though it is a government institution, it has been making all its activities regular and efficient according to the hygiene and schedule to establish its weight and dignity.

In the near future, NATHM will conduct six BHM courses, four BTTM classes, and one MHM one class at the center, with 40 in each section.

In Birtamod, Bardibas and Nepalgunj also, two sections of the BHM educational program will be run in the near future.

NATHM has stated that it will give priority to self-employed technical training by making the educational program more quality and systematic and expanding the training program to all local levels and states.

NATHM has also put forward a program to research the original dishes of local Nepali food of all castes and languages ​​of 77 districts, 753 local levels of the country, and all the provinces.

NATHM, which is planning to set up a food bank or museum of Nepali food in the Kathmandu Valley, will also taste Kodo Khir.

It is also operating an e-library in the near future. It is preparing to sell the food items produced at a discounted price during the practical practice of cooking training.

Currently, about 1,600 students are participating in educational and training programs at NATHM.

The foundation has requested the parliament and the government to help in setting up a tourism training center in Pokhara, a yachting school in Balefi, Sindhupalchowk, and a tourism research center in Kakani, Nuwakot.

Chairperson of the International Committee of the House of Representatives Pavitra Niraula said that the college should not imitate others in every activity and structure construction but should be motivated by the objective of promoting the country's art, culture, dress, and way of life.

He said, "NATHM, which has been providing accessible education under the Ministry of Tourism, should become a model college and it should maintain better quality in education."

NATHM has been at the top of the list of educational institutions producing the required quality manpower in the field of tourism and hotel management.

NATHM's main task now is to make the master plan of the organization. Committee member Surendra Karki said that as Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-religious country, it was necessary for NATHM to study and research the traditional culture and style of welcoming and welcoming every ethnic group.

NATHM has requested the government to provide opportunities for foreign study scholarships to the institution, facilitate land acquisition during branch expansion and assist in infrastructure construction.

By establishing a state-of-the-art educational institute, the foundation has put forward a strategic plan to develop it as a leading institution in the field of tourism and hospitality.

NATHM aims to conduct international education for students from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries, BIMSTEC and China.

Member Karki informed that NATHM also needs to provide education to the students about the 'hygienic and healthy food' available in the country during the study.

NATHM also intends to partner with the United Nations, the World Labor Organization, and the Asian Development Bank to advance the organization's upliftment and growth programs.

NATHM has urged the Federal Parliament to take necessary budget initiatives to build the infrastructure as per the separate act and master plan with a quick structure to make the organization dynamic in line with the times.
