NEB Preparation of Class 12 Examination - One Student on Each Bench:

The government had postponed the exam schedule scheduled for last April due to coronavirus infection. The schedule for conducting the postponed examination of Class 12 from Manshir 9 has been made public.

It has been suggested that the upcoming class 12 examination, in which more than four lakh candidates will participate, should be conducted in a dignified and safe manner from Corona. As the examination is conducted while the infection is still present, the need to make the examination safe in terms of infection has been pointed out.

President of the Federation of Nepalese Parents, Suprabhat Bhandari, said that dignity should be maintained in this examination and health should also be protected. He said that all the health infrastructure should be completed in the examination center.

It has been demanded that the students should take the exam only by maintaining physical distance in the examination center. Parents have demanded mandatory use of masks, provision of sanitizer from home, and even at the center.

Parents suggest that students should take exams in a classroom that is conducive to a good atmosphere. It is emphasized that the students should manage the classroom accordingly as the possibility of transmission is less. For this, parents should also give advice to the students, says Chairman Bhandari.

The Padmodaya Secondary School in Kathmandu has made internal preparations for the Class 12 examination by placing one student on a bench. Narayan Gautam, assistant principal of the school, informed that the examination will be held by placing one examinee on a bench to maintain physical distance between the students.

It has been stated that health materials will be provided to the students in the school and the examination will be conducted following the health standards. It is said that there is a need to consider the issue as the students as well as the teachers involved in the examination may be at risk. Assistant Prof. Gautam said that there is a need to be especially vigilant in the collection and examination of students' answer scripts. As it is a home center, it is expected that the examination will be easier.

The National Examination Board has tried to conduct the Class 12 examination in a different way than in the past. This time the student has been given the nearest examination center and home center. As the students do not have to stay in a dormitory, do not have to travel far, and do not even have to gather a lot among the examinees, the examination can be made safe in terms of health. This time students will be in the examination hall for a maximum of one and a half hours for the written examination of 40 marks.

The Board has made an arrangement to have a maximum of 20 candidates in one examination hall by keeping a distance of at least two meters for each student in compliance with the standards of public health and safety.

It has been mentioned in the examination procedure issued by the board to establish a health desk in the examination center. The board has instructed the students to take the test in a separate room suspected of being infected with Covid-19.

The examination, which started on Mangsir 9, will continue till Mangsir 16. This time, a 40 percent assessment of the student's class 11 will also be included in the class 12 examination. In addition, students will be assessed on the basis of a 40 percent written exam of class 12 and 20 percent internal assessment taken by the school.
