Ministry of Education

This time, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has amended the Education Act so that there is no age limit in SEE. Accordingly, students of any age will be considered eligible for the SEE examination to appear for the Secondary Education Examination Class 10 (SEE) examination to be held on April 22, 2022 (9th Baishakh 2079).

Earlier, there was an arrangement to have SLC in class 10. Due to the government arrangement of enrolling 5-year-old students in class 1, the provision of giving SLC only to those who have reached 14 years of age was provided in the Education Act in the past but now there is the provision of SLC i.e. school living in class 12. However, many students were in trouble due to the provision in the Education Act 2028 BS.

Spokesperson Sharma said that the ministry has removed the age limit of SEE in the act saying that this provision has caused problems to many students. According to him, the ministry has removed the age threshold by amending clauses (d) and (g) of section 2 of the Education Act, sub-rule 82 of rule 78 of the Education Rules 2049 BS.

The National Examination Board has said that due to the age limit of 14 years in SEE, many students should be deprived of taking the exam, even if they take the exam; The age threshold has been removed in the upcoming SEE due to the fact that the results have to be kept withheld and later brought with age.

After removing the age limit in the Education Act, the able students will be able to go to the upper class by jumping the class at a young age. Nowadays young students are starting to go to school. Even at the age of 12 or 13, they reach class 10. Not only this, there is a positive environment for strong students to go upstairs at any age. Even at the international level, there is no age restriction in any level of education at the school level, so it has been removed in Nepal as well.

According to Chairman Sharma, in the past, keeping the results of the examinees withheld due to underage age has removed the obligation of the parents to bring the age increase certificate even if it is through the wrong process.

Students will be able to easily get the certificate of knowledge and skills acquired by ability and not by their age. The government had earlier fixed the age limit for enrolling in class 1 at 5 years and reaching the age of 10 years, but now this condition has been removed. The Education Act has to be amended as the practice of keeping children in school at an early age has increased.

A total of 494,681 candidates are appearing for the SEE examination starting from April 22, 2022. For which 2 thousand 27 examination centers have been designated across the country. The printing of question papers for the examination has already started. This time, the responsibility of conducting and managing the examination will be borne by the Province examination management committee. The NEB will only publish the results.
