Supreme Court orders to implement 45 percent reservation in medical education:

The Supreme Court has issued a directive in the name of the Medical Education Commission on Poush 16, ordering the implementation of 45 percent reservation in the entrance examinations for postgraduate level (PG) MD and MS level of medical education.

Dr. Vinay Panjiar had filed a case in the Supreme Court on Ashoj 20, demanding that reservation should be provided in everybody of the state as the constitution itself provides for reservation, and reservation should be implemented in medical education on the same basis. The Medical Education Commission had published the examination schedule by setting quotas for 50 percent open, 40 percent government service and 10 percent foreign students in the entrance examination for the postgraduate level scheduled to be conducted from Kartik 1. All the doctors including Dr. Vinay Panjiar protested against this.

Immediately after that, the agitating medical students led by Dr. Binay Panjiar had filed a case at the apex court demanding an entrance examination with 45 percent reservation.

The commission has fixed 1,600 seats in PG in medical education. Considering 45 percent reservation as 100 percent, women 33 percent, Dalit 9 percent, Adivasi Janjati 15 percent, Madhesi 12 percent, Khas Arya 17 percent, Muslim 2 percent, and disabled 2 percent have been released.

As soon as the Commission fixes the date of conducting the examination for MD, MS, Nursing, M.Pharm, MSc at the postgraduate level on Kartik 1. The apex court had issued an interim order in the name of the commission on Ashoj 19 to postpone the examination.
