Water ATM Facility Available in Various Places of Kathmandu Valley

The government has made arrangements to get drinking water from the automated system in the first phase in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The government has named it Water ATM.

The government has developed a system to provide easy service to the citizens by installing water ATMs for easy drinking water in Kathmandu. This will provide relief to the citizens in general.

You will have to pay a certain amount of money to drink water from a water ATM. The Ministry of Drinking Water, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Management Board have brought water ATMs into operation in Kathmandu from February 11.

Minister for Water Supply Manichandra Thapa inaugurated the Water ATM on Thursday. As per the government's plan, water ATMs have been set up at Ratna Park, Balaju, and Swayambhu Bhagwan Pau in the first phase.

With the connection of water ATM; a clean and quality drinking water facility will be available in this area. Consumers will have to pay Rs. 2 for 200 mm of water available from the Water ATM. Similarly, one has to pay Rs. 5 for a liter.

The water ATM will be operated by the supplier for the next three months. It will be handed over to the board after three months. The ATM will provide hot water in winter and cold water in summer. A necessary system has also been connected for that.

An arrangement has been made for consumers to use one rupee coin to get water from Water ATM. According to Sanjeev Bikram Rana, Executive Director of Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Board, such ATMs will be connected at 15 different places in Kathmandu Valley within the next three years. Information on how to withdraw water from ATMs is also kept in understandable language.

Preparations have been made to operate water ATMs in Kalanki, Malpot, Baneshwor, Bangalamukhi Mandir, Kasunti Transport Office, and Shankha Park Dhumrabarahi within the next year. Similarly, the Ministry of Drinking Water has said that similar structures will be installed in different places of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur.
