Galyang Municipality Provides Scholarships to 167 Students
Syangja — Galyang Municipality has provided scholarships to 167 students within the municipality. The municipality provided scholarships to poor, underprivileged, and meritorious students studying in campuses and grades 11–12 operating within the municipality.
According to the municipality, scholarships have been provided to 20 percent of students in grades 11–12 studying in community schools and 10 percent of students at the campus level.
The municipality stated that the program was implemented with the objective of ensuring that no student is deprived of education due to financial hardship. The program aims to encourage poor, underprivileged, and meritorious students toward higher education, increase the attraction of students and parents toward community schools and campuses, ensure equal access to education, and produce capable and skilled human resources.
Mayor Guruprasad Bhattarai said the scholarship program was implemented in line with the first decision made after he was elected, with the objective of ensuring that no student is deprived of education.
The municipality distributed annual scholarships targeting economically disadvantaged students studying in community schools and campuses who excel in their studies.
Mayor Bhattarai said scholarships equivalent to the annual fee were provided to students of grades 11–12 and campus level on the basis of recommendations from the ward, school, and campus. Local residents said that after the scholarship distribution, the situation in which students had to be deprived of education due to financial hardship has been reduced to some extent.
