82 pc Internet Bandwith Consumes for Google and Facebook in Nepal:

Nepali has been found to consume the most internet bandwidth for Google and Facebook. According to the Nepal Network Service Providers Group, 82 percent of the total internet consumption in Nepal is spent on running Google and Facebook. According to the statistics, 51 percent of Google usage and 31 percent of Facebook is consuming bandwidth.

In addition, eight percent of news-related online content, two percent of bandwidth consumption is found in Tiktak, Akamai, and Internet service provider content. Statistics also show that Nepalese are consuming one percent of the internet for Netflix, which provides online movie watching facilities. Samitjan Thing, chairman of the group, said that 1.6 terabytes per second of the internet were used in these internal consumption content.

The group also estimates that Google and Facebook use more bandwidth on international internet traffic. Of the total bandwidth, 32 percent is consumed by Google and 24 percent by Facebook. For international traffic, Nepalis consume 500 Gbps internet per second, said Thing, chairman of the group. In this regard, 2.1 terabytes of the internet being consumed per second in Nepal. Such consumption was even lower before the ban. According to the group, internet consumption in Nepal has increased by 33 percent since the shutdown. During the shutdown, the attraction of Nepalis for entertainment content on the internet has increased. The use of TickTack, which is becoming popular for short videos, has increased by 100 percent in the meantime. Similarly, the use of Netflix and online games has also increased by 100 percent, according to the group.

The use of Google and Facebook increased by 12 and 17 percent, respectively. In Nepal, 89 percent of fixed and the remaining 11 percent of mobile bandwidth consumption is shown by the group's data. According to Google data provided by the group, internet consumption in Nepal is increasing by an average of 23 percent annually. In the past, the content has been distributed through the same network as in the past, but recently it has been distributed through the Content Delivery Network (CDN). According to the latest statistics of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority, 72 percent of the people have access to the Internet.
