Cooperatives to be Connected with Hub Cooperative Service:

Daksha Poudel, co-chairman of the National Cooperative Development Board, said that it was necessary to connect to cooperative technology. Speaking on the occasion of the 12th Annual General Meeting of the Achievement Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Co-Chairman Poudel said that emphasis should be laid on e-commerce through cooperatives. He said that all the cooperatives should transact through a digital medium as cash transactions are risky.

He said that a momentous change was needed in the cooperative sector. He said that preparations are being made to connect all the cooperatives to technology through Hub Cooperative Service.

"Technology-friendly electronic transactions will be done through hub cooperatives," he said, adding that "various transactions can be done including sending and withdrawing money from mobiles."

Stating that Hub Cooperative Service is also a cooperative of cooperatives, he said that all the cooperatives should be able to provide all services through technology even from home. He expressed confidence that cooperatives would also use technology like banks and financial institutions.

He said that the campaign should place special emphasis on the fact that cooperatives should not be a weak pillar in the three pillar economy. Although the Cooperatives Act and Rules provide for more funds, cooperatives appear to be stronger; He expressed concern that the attraction of people joining cooperatives may decrease. "There will be a wide-ranging discussion on this issue while amending the law," he said.
