A grant of 9.88 billion has been disbursed for 'optical backbone network project' as the largest project of authority. On the other hand, Smart Telecom also has started working out optical fibers in the states 5, 6 and 7. Smart Telecom started launching fiber from Nepalgunj on February 5, 2019. Smart Telecom had signed the CCSN (China Communications Services Nepal) for fiber expansion in the prescribed state.
Smart Telecom has been planning to compete in this year the working out optical fibers in Barke, Bardiya, and 19 districts of province 6 and 7 such as Surkhet, Dailekh, Jarakkot, Dolpa, Jumla, Kalikot, Mugu, Humla, Accham, Bajura, Bahjang, Doti, Kaliali, Kanchanpur, Dhadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula. The task is to complete the task within one year. The government has provided a sum of Rs. 3 billion to the Telecom Telecommunications Fund for the work as a subsidy. Smart Telecom will build, operate, manage and repair it for 25 years.
