NTC Offers Free SIM for Students and Teachers:

Nepal Telecom has continued to distribute free SIM cards to community school teachers and students under the 'Pathshala CUG SIM' scheme. Telecom is providing SIM cards to continue reading online during the Corona epidemic.

Rajesh Joshi, the spokesperson of Nepal Telecom, said that 5 GB of data and bulk SMS can be sent through the SIM to run the website of the Ministry of Education with textbooks for classes 1 to 10. He said that all the students and teachers in the group have the facility to have unlimited communication with each other.

According to him, the monthly fee for using the facility will be borne by the government through local bodies as per the 'Contingency Action Plan on School Education 2077'. Every student and teacher of government or community school from class 1 to 12 can get one free Pathshala SIM card for a fee of Rs. 99.

How to participate:

To join the 'Pathshala CUG SIM' scheme introduced by Telecom, the company's GSM or CDMA prepaid mobile number is required. Students and teachers can add a prepaid SIM card already in use if they wish. Those who do not have a prepaid SIM card can get a new prepaid SIM card for free.

To get the SIM card, teachers and students have to fill the application form of the prepaid mobile prescribed by the company and submit it to the concerned public school. The application form should be accompanied by a copy of the student's identity card, a copy of the student's citizenship or if not citizenship, a copy of the parent's citizenship should be attached and a photocopy should be affixed at the designated place on the application form. Students can take the SIM card in their own name or in the name of their parents.

The school should contact the nearest telecom office and pay the fee based on the recommendation of the local level along with the mobile number and name of all the teachers, students, and parents involved in the scheme. Spokesperson Joshi informed that even after the expiry of that period, the SIM used for free can be used continuously like other users.
