Smart Suitcase for the Visually Impaired

IBM Tech has teamed up with four other companies to create a prototype suitcase. This suitcase is an artificial intelligence-based suitcase. The suit claims the company will guide the visually impaired.

The company has also partnered with companies like Alpine, Mistubishi, Omron, and Shimizu to create smart suitcases. Behind it was also a statue of IBM's Aiko Asakawa, who himself is visually impaired. This suitcase alerts the visually impaired and the camera and sensor in it will alert you to obstacles.

A smart suitcase based on AI technology aims to scan a user's current location and map data to get to the destination. The suitcase guides by speaking and giving vibrations to its handle. That way users can easily find the shops along the way.

According to NextWebReport, this suitcase uses camera and distance sensors to inform users in advance of the problem. The Next Web has stated in its Global Health Study report that the number of visually impaired can reach 11.5 million in 2050.

According to Asakawa, freedom and safe travel to the city is difficult for the visually impaired. But this suitcase is intended to end their problems. In this suitcase, Alpine has been working with Haptic Technology, Omron Company to make image recognition and sensors, the Shimizu navigation system and automotive technology useful. The company believes that this suitcase will make all the visually impaired self-reliant.
