The Directorate of Research and Extension (DoREX), Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), has been implementing a project entitled "Capacity Building of Community Members on Identification and Selection of Climate Resilient Varieties (Activity A1.1.3.7) of the Gandaki Basin Climate Resilient Project (GBCRP)” in collaboration with the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC).
The activity, implemented through a Letter of Agreement (LoA No. AFU/NTNC/2026/001) between NTNC and DoREX, AFU, aims to build the capacity of farmers, local agrovet operators, and agriculture technicians across 151 local governments (Palikas) on promoting drought- and flood-tolerant varieties (rice and wheat) for hill, Terai, and plain areas in the Chure and Inner Terai. The DoREX/AFU invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who have completed an MSc Ag from Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) and are committed and can deliver results with the highest integrity for the following position.
Required position: Training Coordinator
Duration: September 2026-December 2027
Workstation: DoREX Office, Chitwan, and frequent travel to training locations across 19 districts
Key responsibilities: The Training Coordinator will manage all logistical and operational aspects of delivering three-day training events across the Gandaki River Basin, including venue arrangements, procurement of training materials and seed sample kits, and establishment of demonstration plots. The role involves mobilizing participants, coordinating with local governments, GBCRP field teams, and agrovet operators, and ensuring smooth field-level implementation. Additionally, the coordinator will maintain comprehensive records (attendance, pre/post-assessments, and photographic documentation), support financial tracking, assist in preparing reports, and ensure compliance with GBCRP branding.

Required qualifications and skills

Degree: Master’s degree in Agriculture (MSc Ag) in agronomy or plant breeding.

Local agricultural knowledge: understanding of Nepal's cropping systems, farming patterns, and climate vulnerabilities in the Gandaki River Basin.

Climate-smart agriculture knowledge: Understanding of climate change adaptation practices, including selection of climate-resilient varieties in rice and wheat farming systems.

Participatory training skills: experience in participatory training methodologies.

Reporting, monitoring, and evaluation: proven ability to prepare project reports, training completion reports, and monitoring and learning documentation.

Field mobility: willingness and ability to travel extensively to remote Palikas across 19 districts in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces.
