Personal Details Sought for Nepal Insurance Authority Chairperson

Kathmandu— The Ministry of Finance, Government of Nepal, has sought personal details to recommend a name for appointment to the vacant post of Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority. Through a notice published on 2083/2/13, the Recommendation Committee formed to recommend a name for appointment to the post requested qualified Nepali citizens to submit their details within 7 days.

According to the notice, interested Nepali citizens must submit their personal details within 7 (seven) days from the date of publication of the notice, i.e., by 2083/2/19, during office hours at the Secretariat of the Committee located at the Financial Sector Management and Corporation Coordination Division, Ministry of Finance, Singha Durbar, Kathmandu.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The qualifications and experience required for the post of Chairperson have been prescribed as follows.

  • As per Section 8, Sub-section (1)(a) of the Insurance Act, 2079, the candidate must have obtained at least a master’s degree or equivalent in insurance, monetary affairs, banking, commerce, engineering, management, public administration, statistics, mathematics, economics, or law, and must have at least five years of high-level managerial work experience in the related field.

  • Must be of high moral character.

  • Must not be disqualified under Section 8, Sub-section (3) of the Insurance Act, 2079.

  • As prescribed by the Standards Relating to Appointment and Nomination of Office Bearers and Members of Public Bodies Affiliated with the Ministry of Finance, 2072, the candidate must have completed 30 years of age and must not have exceeded 65 years of age.

  • Must not have the following disqualifications:

    • Having been punished for corruption, money laundering, human trafficking, drug trafficking, an offense related to archaeological objects or protected wildlife, or any other criminal offense involving moral turpitude.

    • Having been included in a blacklist under prevailing law and not completed three years from the date of removal from such list.

    • Having obtained permanent residential permission in any foreign country.

    • Currently working under any contract agreement with a public body.

    • Being mentally unsound.

Documents to Be Attached While Submitting Personal Details

  • Personal details (Bio-Data).

  • Copy of Nepali citizenship certificate.

  • Educational qualification certificates and certified documents verifying professional experience.

  • Self-declaration in the prescribed format attached to the notice related to appointment to the post of Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority, published on the Ministry of Finance website, www.mof.gov.np.

The Committee has stated that if false details or documents are submitted in the personal details, such personal details will be cancelled and action will be taken as per prevailing law.

Matters other than those mentioned in the notice will be as provided in the Insurance Act, 2079 and other prevailing laws.
