We seek to recruit the following positions in Practical Action Nepal Office. 

1. Thematic Lead – Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR):

  1. Reporting to the Regional Director, the Thematic Lead will play a leadership role within the Regional Management Team (RMT) being accountable for providing innovative and impactful thought leadership in Nepal, India and South Asia region. S/he will articulate Practical Action's change ambitions in Nepal and India building and nurturing strategic relationships including the government, private sector and donors in support of these change ambitions. S/he will provide effective thought leadership and technical inputs into the design and delivery of technical assistance and on-the-ground projects and will take lead in knowledge generation and advocacy. S/he will support the overall effective and efficient management of the region. S/he is also a key member of the Global DRR Change Ambition Hub, contributing to global leadership on Practical Action's DRR goal area, supporting the global agenda on evidence and learning, and ensuring synergy between our national and global work.
  2. The minimum qualifications required is a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Development and/or any related discipline with at least ten years of working experience, at least half of that in management positions and thematic area, preferably gained in Nepal, India and/or South Asia.

2. Head of Programme Delivery:

  • The Head of Programme Delivery plays a leadership role within the RMT and is accountable for ensuring effective and high-quality delivery of all projects and awards implemented by Practical Action in Nepal, including management of sub-awards to partners. S/he shall ensure timely delivery of all projects and awards, ensure gender, knowledge management, communications, and technology approaches are integrated within projects, and oversee high-quality reports, safety and security across Practical Action's operations in South Asia. S/he should ensure project and award management processes, tools and systems that are consistently applied across Practical Action's delivery processes while ensuring government compliance.
  • The minimum qualifications required is a Master's degree in Development, Engineering, Social Science or in any related disciplines with at least ten years' experience of project/award management, at least half of that in the management position and preferably with experience of managing multiple awards.

3. Senior Project Officer - DRR:

  • Reporting to the Project Manager, s/he shall support to deliver specific project strategies and activities related to strengthening end-to-end flood early warning systems and preparedness for effective disaster reduction and resilience in selected river systems in Nepal.
  • The minimum qualifications required is a Bachelor's degree in Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change, Social Science or any related disciplines with at least five years' related experience.
