Strengthening Systems for Better Health -SSBH

Strengthening Systems for Better Health (SSBH) is a 5-year project aimed at improving health outcomes in Nepal, particularly for the most marginalized and disadvantaged groups in the country. This will be accomplished through supporting the Government of Nepal's efforts to expand access to and use of quality maternal, newborn and child health and family planning services, with a specific focus on newborn care. Strengthening Systems for Better Health was initiated in January 2018 and will achieve three outcomes:

  • improving access to and utilization of equitable healthcare services,
  • improving the quality of health services at facility and community levels and
  • Improving health system governance, within the context of decentralization and federalism.

The Activity is implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration at federal level, provincial and municipal governments, facility and community level health service providers and other key stakeholders. Project technical staff will engage at national, provincial and municipal levels in the target geographic areas of Karnali Province and Banke, Bardiya and Dang of Province 5.The project is implemented collaboratively by Abt Associates, Save the Children, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) and Management Support Services (MASS).


Technical Officer- Health Information Systems

Required No - 10 

Location: Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Rukum - West, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Dailekh/Surkhet, Salyan/Dang, and Banke/Bardiya

The Technical Officer - Health Information Systems will work collaboratively with other Technical Officers (Health Systems Strengthening and MNCH/FP) to support various government and non-government stakeholders related to health to ensure data quality and promote data use at health facilities and in targeted municipalities.

Required Criteria:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Social Sciences or other relevant field.
  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience in health information systems and/or monitoring, evaluation, and learning in the public health field.

 

Technical Officer- Health Systems Strengthening

Required No.- 11

Location: Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Rukum - West, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Dailekh/Surkhet, Salyan/Dang, and Banke/Bardiya, and Social Development Ministry of Province 5 in Butwal

The Technical Officer - Health Information Systems will work collaboratively with other Technical Officers (Health information Systems and MNCH/FP) to support various government and non-government stakeholders related to health in preparation of Annual Workplans and Budgets for the targeted municipalities, as well as timely execution of these plans and budgets and to help municipalities to set-up and strengthen necessary systems to ensure effective service delivery and equitable service utilization.

Required Criteria:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or other relevant field with substantial experience.
  • At least 6 years of related professional experience, with technical knowledge and understanding of health

 

Technical Officer - Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Family Planning

Location: Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Rukum - West, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Dailekh/Surkhet, Salyan/Dang, and Banke/Bardiya

The Technical Officer - MNCH FP will work collaboratively with other Technical Officers (Health Information Systems and Health Systems Strengthening) and with the various government and non-government stakeholders related to health in new federal structure, selected municipality officials, to support/facilitate implementation and quality of the maternal, newborn and child health and family planning activities at municipality level.

Required Criteria:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medicine or Nursing, or Public Health with Health Assistance/Staff Nurse background.
  • At least 5 years of related professional experience, with technical knowledge and understandings of MNCH and family planning.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, good judgement, demonstrated team leadership and problem-solving abilities.
