Admission Guidelines for B. Math.Sc. in Actuarial Science at Tribhuvan University's School of Mathematical Sciences

School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS TU), a distinguished branch of the Tribhuvan University Institute of Science and Technology. We are pleased to announce a fresh admission cycle for our four-year undergraduate program in Actuarial Science (B. Math.Sc. in Actuarial Science). This program follows a semester-based curriculum and aims to equip students with the analytical skills and technical expertise required in the field of actuarial science.

Target Audience

Prospective students with an interest in mathematics and actuarial science, particularly those who have excelled in their previous academic achievements in related subjects.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Class 12 Graduates: Must have scored at least a grade C or second division in Mathematics or Commercial Mathematics.

  • A-Level Candidates: Must obtain a minimum D grade in Mathematics.

  • Diploma from CTEVT: Three-year diploma with a minimum of second division in 100 marks of Mathematics.

  • Foreign Qualification: Must provide an equivalency document from Curriculum Development Center, Sanothimi Watt.

Application Process

Steps for Applying:

  1. Visit the official website to apply online.
  2. Ensure that you have a scanned copy of your Passport size photograph, Bank Voucher, and Transcripts of SLC/SEE +2 as well as a student signature in png format.
  3. Pay a non-refundable entrance examination fee of NPR 2,000/- to Nepal Bank Limited Kirtipur Branch.
  4. Once your application is accepted, you will receive an admit card through email.

Important Dates

  • Online Form Filling Period: Monday 04th Bhadra to Tuesday 26th Bhadra, 2080.
  • Late Application Period: Wednesday 27th Bhadra to Friday 29th Bhadra, 2080, until 5 pm.
  • Written Test Date: Saturday 30th Bhadra 2080, 8 am to 9:45 am.

Entrance Examination

Examination Structure

  1. Written Test: 80 marks (Mathematics: 40, English: 20, General Knowledge & IQ: 20)
  2. Interview: 10 marks
  3. Academic Qualifications: 10 marks

Additional Information

  • Minimum 35% required to pass the written test.
  • Sample question papers are available on the SMS TU website.

Inclusive Quota

According to the Semester System Operation Regulation 2074, 80% of the total 40 seats will be on an open quota, and the remaining 20% will be an inclusive quota. For inclusive seats, an additional fee of NPR 100/- is required.
