MEC Publishes Group-Wise Seat Allocation for MECEE-PG 2026

The Medical Education Commission has published the group-wise seat allocation for all academic programs under the postgraduate level of medical education (MECEE-PG 2026) for the academic year 2026. According to the decision of the Commission’s Executive Committee meeting held on January 28, 2026 [2082-10-14 (BS)], the seat allocation has been made in accordance with Rule 17(1) of the National Medical Education Regulations, 2077.
The Commission has divided the total approved seat numbers—previously made public on November 30, 2025 [2082-08-14 (BS)]—into open, government, and foreign groups. The allocation covers all programs listed in a 21-page compilation, including MD/MS, MDS, MPH, Nursing (MN/MSc Nursing), M.Pharm, and other postgraduate programs being conducted in government and private institutions across the country.
According to the notice, seats in government teaching institutions have been allocated under three categories: government, open, and foreign. In the case of private teaching institutions, seats have been allocated only under the foreign and open groups. The Commission stated that this seat allocation will serve as a key basis for the upcoming matching process.
Examples of seat allocation in selected institutions

B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS): In Public Health (MPH), out of a total of 15 seats, 2 foreign, 8 open, and 5 government seats.

Maharajgunj Medical Campus: In Anesthesiology (MD/MS), out of a total of 12 seats, 1 foreign, 7 open, and 4 government seats.

National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS): In General Surgery, out of a total of 23 seats, 2 foreign, 14 open, and 7 government seats.

Birat Medical College: In Internal Medicine, out of a total of 6 seats, all 6 are open seats.

Kathmandu University (KU) School of Medical Sciences: In MPH, out of a total of 20 seats, 2 foreign and 18 open seats.

Chitwan Medical College: In Public Health (MPH), out of a total of 15 seats, 2 foreign and 13 open seats.
