Tribhuvan University Opens Applications for Four-Year B.Sc. Admission

The Dean’s Office of the Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, has published the entrance examination schedule for students seeking admission to the four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) programme for the academic session 2083. Application forms must be submitted online only.

Application Dates and Fees

  • Regular fee of Rs. 1,100: From 10:00 AM on Wednesday, 17 Asar 2083 to Friday, 5 Shrawan 2083.

  • Double fee of Rs. 2,200: From Saturday, 6 Shrawan 2083 to Wednesday, 10 Shrawan 2083.

  • Entrance examination date and time: Saturday, 20 Bhadra 2083 at 11:30 AM.

Application Process

Applicants must personally complete and submit the entrance examination application form available on the Institute of Science and Technology’s website at https://iost.tu.edu.np.

The entrance examination fee may be deposited from any branch of Global IME Bank Limited in Nepal into the account of the Dean’s Office, Institute of Science and Technology, maintained at the bank’s Kirtipur branch. The fee may also be paid online through the app or link available on the admission portal.

Applicants must enter the bank voucher number or Product ID while completing the online form. After submitting the form, they must immediately print and retain the Confirmation Page received upon submission.

While completing the form, applicants must upload documents including the transcript, marksheet, equivalence certificate, a signature made in black ink, and an MRP-standard photograph as evidence of the minimum qualification.

Applicants must upload the transcripts for Classes 11 and 12, or the Class 11 marksheet and Class 12 transcript. The notice states that forms containing blurred or unreadable documents will not be approved.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have passed Secondary Education Grade 12 in Science, the Proficiency Certificate Level in Science (I.Sc.), or an equivalent examination, with English as a subject carrying at least 100 full marks.

  • For the Biological Group: Applicants must have studied Chemistry and Biology, each carrying 200 full marks, and passed with at least a second division or obtained a Final Grade C in both subjects. They must also have passed the other subjects and obtained at least a GPA of 1.6.

  • For the Physical Group: Applicants must have studied Physics and Mathematics, each carrying 200 full marks, and passed with at least a second division or obtained a Final Grade C in both subjects. They must also have passed the other subjects and obtained at least a GPA of 1.6.

  • For A Level students: Applicants for the Biological Group must have passed Chemistry and Biology with a Final Grade D in both subjects, with or without a small letter. Applicants for the Physical Group must have passed Physics and Mathematics with a Final Grade D in both subjects, with or without a small letter. They must have obtained at least Grade E in the other subjects.

  • Applicants who obtained their academic qualifications from an institution other than the National Examination Board or from a foreign board must submit an equivalence document issued by the Curriculum Development Centre, Sanothimi.

Special provision: Candidates who were unsuccessful or received Non-Graded status in a maximum of two subjects in the Class 12 or equivalent examination and have taken grade-improvement examinations but are awaiting the results may also apply and participate in the entrance examination. However, they must meet the prescribed minimum qualifications to be admitted.

Entrance Examination Information and Curriculum

The entrance examination will be common for the Physical and Biological groups. There will be no negative marking for any question.

The examination will have a duration of two hours. Candidates must obtain at least 35 percent of the full marks to pass.

The examination will contain objective or multiple-choice questions carrying 100 full marks based on the Class 11 and 12 or equivalent curriculum, as follows:

Group A

  • Marks: 40

  • Subject: Chemistry or Physics

  • Curriculum: Classes 11 and 12

Group B

  • Marks: 40

  • Subject: Biology or Mathematics

  • Curriculum: Classes 11 and 12

Group D

  • Marks: 20

  • Subject: English Aptitude Test

  • Curriculum: Classes 11 and 12

Results and Admission Process

A merit list or Placement list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by candidates in the entrance examination.

If two or more candidates obtain equal marks, their marks in Chemistry or Physics, Biology or Mathematics, English, and the lower academic level will be considered respectively to determine their ranking.

After the results are published, students must download their respective Score Sheets and contact the campus of their choice.

Admission under inclusive quotas and scholarships will be conducted in accordance with the relevant regulations and directives of Tribhuvan University.
