Gandaki Boarding School Wins Gulmi District Science Exhibition and STEM Competition
Resunga, Gulmi, Jestha 26. Gandaki Boarding School has secured first place in the district-level science exhibition and STEM competition held in Gulmi. Students from Gandaki presented various scientific materials at the exhibition, including a stone that can be used to clean rivers.
Similarly, Hwangdi Mehele Secondary School secured second place, while Mahendra Secondary School stood third. The schools securing first, second, and third positions received cash prizes of Rs. 6,000, Rs. 5,000, and Rs. 4,000, respectively.
The competition saw the participation of Mahendra Secondary School, Resunga Secondary School, Siddhababa Secondary School, and Gandaki Boarding School from the district headquarters, along with Mahendra Adarsha Secondary School, Ridi Secondary School, and Hwangdi Mehele Secondary School from outside the headquarters.
The evaluation was based on scientific concepts and principles, creativity and innovation, knowledge of subject matter and presentation skills, research and use of facts, social impact and utility, technical efficiency, and use of low-cost materials.
Laxman Ghimire, Chief of the Social Development Division Office, Palpa, said the exhibition was organized with the objective of developing practical understanding among students on how the scientific principles included in the curriculum can be made relevant and useful in daily life. He said one such program each was conducted in Palpa and Gulmi this year.
Bhagirath Bhandari, headteacher of Resunga Secondary School, said students from schools ranging from urban areas to villages presented excellent creations. According to him, such competitions encourage students toward exploration and research and help develop creative thinking.
