Plant Science Classes Begin at Jayakisan Secondary School, Narainapur

Jayakisan Secondary School, located in Narainapur–6 of Banke district, has officially started teaching the Plant Science subject under the technical education stream.

With the launch of Grades 11 and 12 classes in Plant Science, students in the area have expressed enthusiasm and renewed motivation for continuing their education.

Local Students Inspired by Access to Education

Durgesh Kumar Maurya, a resident of Narainapur–6, shared that his education was on the verge of being discontinued due to financial difficulties.

However, with the launch of technical education in his own village, he has been able to resume his studies.

Coming from a farming family, Maurya has started sharing what he learns in school with his parents at home.

Now Offering Classes Up to Grade 12

Previously, the school only ran classes up to Grade 10.

With the recent upgrade, it now offers technical education up to Grade 12.

The initiative was made possible through the leadership of the rural municipality’s Chairperson Syed Istiyak Ahmad Shah, under the campaign slogan “Jayakisan Narainapur Ki Shaan, Meri Jaan.”

Students and Teachers See Positive Impact

Anish Halwai, a Grade 12 student, expressed happiness at being able to pursue advanced agricultural studies without leaving his village.

According to teacher Usha Bik, the launch of Plant Science in partnership with the Center for Education and Human Resource Development has drawn increased interest from students.

Rural Students No Longer Need to Leave for Education

With the introduction of Plant Science, students from rural areas in both Narainapur and Rapti Sonari Rural Municipalities no longer need to travel far or drop out due to lack of opportunities.

Teacher Bik emphasized that this move has helped retain students in local schools.

Producing Skilled Manpower for Agricultural Self-Reliance

Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Navaraj Wali, said the program aims to produce skilled manpower in agricultural technical fields and contribute to self-reliance.

Student Enrollment Growing

According to Krishna Tharu, Head of the Education Section of the municipality, the program initially began with 36 students and now has 60 students enrolled.

Local Schools and Practical Skill Development

As per the Education Section, there are currently:

  • 21 community schools

  • 26 madrasas

  • 3 institutional schools in operation in Narainapur.

Deputy Head of the Education Section, Kamal KC, noted that students have successfully taught their parents practical skills learned at school—such as making compost fertilizer and preparing pesticides—demonstrating the real-life impact of agricultural education.
