Call for Research Grant Proposals

Gandaki University, through the Research Centre, Innovation and Invention Centre (RC-II), is pleased to announce a Call for Proposals under the Gandaki Research Program (GRP) for the following funding schemes:

1. Graduate Research Grant (Master’s & PhD)

Applications are invited from eligible Master’s and PhD students enrolled in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) within Gandaki Province.

Key Highlights:

  • Funding:
    ✓ Master’s: Up to NPR 50,000
    ✓ PhD: Up to NPR 75,000 (dry lab)/ NPR 150,000 (wet lab)

  • Supports thesis/dissertation research

  • Minimum of 10 proposals each (Master’s and PhD) will be funded (subject to budget availability)

  • Applicants must have an approved supervisor and ongoing thesis/dissertation work

2. Collaborative Research Grant

Applications are invited from faculty/researchers for interdisciplinary and multi-institutional research projects.

Key Highlights:

  • Funding: Up to NPR 10,00,000 per project

  • Requires at least one collaborating partner institution (national or international)

  • Project duration: Up to 24 months

  • Emphasis on applied, impactful, and interdisciplinary research

Thematic Areas (Applicable to Both Grants)

Proposals must align with priority areas such as:

Graduate Research Grant

  • Agricultural and Agronomic Sciences

  • Animal, Veterinary, and Fishery Sciences

  • Engineering and Allied Disciplines

  • Forestry, Environment, Ecology, and Climate Sciences

  • Geography and Geosciences

  • Health and Allied Sciences

  • IT, Computer, Data Science, and Allied Sciences

  • Management, Sports, and Recreation

  • Natural Sciences

  • Sustainable livelihood, workfare and welfare, and social engineering

Collaborative Research Grant

  • Agricultural and Agronomic Sciences

  • Engineering and Technology Innovation

  • Environment, Ecology, and Climate Change

  • Health and Biomedical Sciences

  • Data Science, IT, and Digital Transformation

  • Natural Resources and Sustainable Livelihoods

  • Entrepreneurship, Management, and Socioeconomic Development

  • Energy, Infrastructure, and Smart Systems

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • Cover letter and motivation

  • Research proposal (as per prescribed format)

  • CV(s) and Citizenship certificate

  • Academic and institutional support documents

  • Budget and timeline

(Additional documents may be required as per specific grant guidelines.)

  • Scientific merit and methodology

  • Relevance to thematic priorities

  • Feasibility and innovation

  • Budget justification and timeline

  • Collaboration (for collaborative grants)
