Overview
Kailash Bodhi Secondary School was established in 1993 A.D. as a private academic institution located in Ramnagar, Boudha-6, Kathmandu. An academic institution is a unit to account for enlightening people and creating an atmosphere of awareness. Kailash Bodhi Secondary Boarding School accepts the challenge with a spirit of dedication to the children deprived of resources at its best. This school is a residential cum day co-educational school for the children of all ethnic groups and any religious background.
Kailash Bodhi School is registered under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of Nepal. It is a secondary (Madhyamik) school, which has successfully promoted many batches of students for S.L.C. examinations with colorful results since 1998. Classes run from Nursery to Ten (X). The medium of instruction is English for all classes except for the preprimary classes and the language subject in proper. The Tibetan language is also taught as an optional language.
Ven. Lama Gondup and Mr. Sonam Tsering Lama laid the foundation stone of this school in the year 1993 on February 24th. It is situated in Suvigaon, which is at a distance of 15 minute’s walk to the northwestern direction from Boudha stupa, Kathmandu. It is located in an ideal place with quiet and green surroundings. According to the list of admissions since its establishment, the school has grown with around 2802 students within two decades. And nearly 900 students from different parts of the country make the current strength of the school.
The number of students could be higher. However, the school management has decided to keep enrollment to a manageable size to ensure its pursuit of academic excellence. The school has employed qualified, experienced, loving teachers and other non-teaching staff to guide and assist the students. Students' teacher ratio is kept 1:25 (one teacher for twenty-five students) to extend the fullest and individual care to each and every student. The Principal is the head of the school and general administrator and academic concerns. The Academic coordinator looks after the academic planning, supervision, evaluation, discipline and day-to-day school administration. There is also a provision for a coordinator to manage the co-curricular activities.
Aims and Objectives:
The school’s main objective is to provide up to date and quality education to the children from the backward and remote areas of the Himalayan region of Nepal by creating equal opportunities as available to other fortunate children in the world. Since those regions have little accessibility to transportation facilities except the airway which is very expensive for the habitats, it has become very difficult for the children to achieve quality education in those areas due to lack of vivid educational opportunities, facilities, good teachers and sufficient books and stationaries.
Therefore, the school is providing an opportunity for those children for their education and a better life by managing as many resources as possible. And the nominal fee collected from the local children helps to fulfill the insufficiency in overall school expenses. To develop good moral education and personality, it aims to build up the children into intellectual and self-dependent citizens.
