N.K. Singh Memorial EPS School has established in 1967 A.D. as a community based educational institution located in Min Bhawan, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is affiliated to the National examination board (NEB) and approved by the Ministry of Education. It offers Educational programs from Grade One to Grade Ten.
N.K. Singh Memorial English Preparatory Secondary School has a decades-long history of contribution and it has emerged as one of the leading educational institutions of the country. Under the visionary personality of late Founder Principal N.K. Singh, the school got perfect guidance of his in-born managerial skills and devotion to uplift the standards of education of his motherland. He always dreamt of providing good quality education within the reach of average middle-class families and directed all of his activities for the fulfillment of his dream. The tree planted by him flourished in a quick time and started producing quality manpower for the development of the country. As a result, the country became proud to have N.K. Singh as her son. The school has recently been named as N.K. Singh Memorial English Preparatory School (NKSMEPS) to honor his contribution and the street on which the school premise is situated has been named by the local Government as N.K. Singh Marga.
NKSMEPS is recognized for its progressive education with a definite accent on Nepali culture and traditions. It provides a host of activities and the curriculum is so planned that it suits the different stages of development. The school’s achievement in academics has been remarkable with almost cent percent results and an overwhelming majority in the top bracket in the SEE. Every year, a number of students make it in the medical, engineering and other professional courses. Besides academics, the students have brought laurels to their institutions by exhibiting outstanding performances in the various national level inter-school competitions in academics, art, music, dance, and sports.
NKSM EPS, students are expected to be industrious, disciplined, respectful, obedient and independent in order to derive maximum advantage out of their tenure in school. The school does its best to impart a meaningful educational program to help the students to develop an all-round well-integrated personality with a sense of plurality in every respect that is so essential to the national and individual progress.
Admission and Fees:
Admission: Normally the academic session starts from Baisakh (April) and ends by the last of Chaitra (March) unless and otherwise, the government authority makes a legal announcement. Any student willing to leave or alter the school facilities such as boarding, transportation, etc. has to apply to the school authority prior to the end of the session. Any eligible refund is to be claimed before beginning the new session.
School Hours: Working days are generally from Sunday to Friday. However, the first and last Sundays of each month, according to the Nepali calendar, are suspended for meetings. The school starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends up at 4:00 p.m. whereas the juniors from grade one to four leaves by 3:15 p.m.
Scholarship & Awards: N.K. Singh Memorial EPS provides full and partial scholarship schemes to the deserving students. Some needy students are provided scholarships by some benevolent people at home and abroad.
Facilities:
Library and Lab: The school has a collection of books required for the student at the secondary level. It owns a well-equipped science laboratory meeting the standard of the secondary level.
Computer lab and Science lab: Computer technology is increasingly becoming an integral part of contemporary society. Keeping in view the importance of computer technology to society in general and to the students, the school has a well-managed computer lab. It has facilitated the students taking computer as a vocational subject.
Transport: The school provides transport facilities plying to different parts of the valley. We have the required numbers of vehicles ranging from comfortable vans to large buses
Pre-School: It provides the opportunity for enrolling the students from a very young age of two and a half. Before promoting the students to Nursery class, they are given ample opportunity to socialize themselves and be prepared to start the literacy classes when they are of age three.
Hostels: EPS has boys’ and girls’ hostels under strict observation of responsible and experienced hostel wardens. The hostels offer full boarding as well as day boarding accommodation with a conductive study atmosphere. We have maintained a fairly homely environment at hostels to give a feel of ‘home away from home'.
Audio Visual: The school has access to audio-visual aids for a better understanding of languages and various other cultural, historical and technological activities
Student Counseling: A team of experienced counselors is formed to give counseling classes to all the students in order to rationalize academic or behavioral problems Moreover, professional psychologists are invited for any psychological problems arising in students.
Teacher-Parents Relation: The output of the students is a by-product of the integral effort of the school students and the parents/guardians. So EPS keeps a deep interest in developing a sound relation between teachers and parents in collecting information and suggestion about the activities of children.
