Overview

Siddhi Mangal Secondary School was formally established on the 2nd of Magh, 2012 B.S., through the significant initiative of local social worker Mr. Krishna Dware Maharjan. Initially, the school began informally in the house of Mr. Dwarikaman Nemkul at Ramdhoka, Ward No. 9 of the former Siddhipur Village Development Committee. Over time, it relocated from Dache Chhen to Gwarakhel and later returned to Gwarakhel, where it now stands permanently.

From the school’s management involvement in the local election of 2043 B.S., efforts continued to gain permission for secondary-level classes in 2045/46 and eventually to upgrade it to a higher secondary level in 2061 B.S. These milestones were achieved through the dedication of the school management committee and the active involvement of the entire Siddhipur community.

Development and Infrastructure Milestones

After the 2054 B.S. election, with a focus on improving infrastructure and academic quality, construction materials were stored within the school premises. Local pathways previously used through the school land were rerouted to organize the premises properly.

Despite several challenges, construction of classroom buildings, installation of proper windows and doors, and a west-facing block were completed successfully.

Recognizing that infrastructure alone does not guarantee educational excellence, the school introduced English-medium instruction to enhance academic quality. During this phase, additional classroom needs arose.

The Ministry of Education funded the construction of a new building with a grant of NPR 1.6 million. A former classroom block was demolished and replaced by a modern structure supported by the Urban Environment Management Society, for NPR 23.1 million.

While physical expansion was achieved, the school also focused on enhancing educational standards. By introducing technical classes and increasing student enrollment, the goal is to establish Siddhi Mangal as a model school within Mahalaxmi Municipality.

Establishment and Progress

The school’s journey began in a private residence and moved through various phases—from initial classes at Kotghar to formal operations in Gwarakhel.

Academic milestones:

  • 2031/32 B.S.: Upgraded to Lower Secondary School

  • 2045/46 B.S.: Upgraded to Secondary Level

  • 2061/62 B.S.: Upgraded to Higher Secondary (10+2)

Today, Siddhi Mangal stands as a recognized academic institution in the area. We express deep respect and gratitude to the founders and visionaries who nurtured this school.

Over more than 70 years, the school has grown through adversity and progress. It now offers quality education in an environment supported by modern infrastructure, well-equipped science and computer labs, a rich library, sanitary and student-friendly toilets, and audio-visual teaching facilities.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of well-wishers, education enthusiasts, and community supporters, the school has undergone both academic and physical transformations. Credit goes to all the founders, community leaders, educators, and guardians who contributed to its development.

Vision

The school aims to become a leading inclusive model school in the region by creating an ICT-friendly learning environment and achieving higher academic outcomes through collective support.

Challenges and Limitations

Although the school has achieved significant progress, it still faces several key challenges:

  • Community perception toward public schools has limited student enrollment

  • Only 4 ropani of land limits further infrastructure development and activity space

  • Lack of a regular income source affects planning and competitive growth

  • Mixed academic backgrounds in students lead to classroom management challenges

Even with these limitations, the school has already demonstrated the capacity to become a well-managed educational institution.

Opportunities and Future Plans

The school’s recent improvements in infrastructure, educational materials, hygiene, and teaching quality have shown potential for its development as a model school.

Recognizing the interdependence of school and community, the school is committed to:

  • Using available human and physical resources responsibly

  • Building partnerships with community members and donors

  • Aligning school goals with local interests and expectations

Key upcoming plans:

  1. Develop the school as a model institution within the Lalitpur district

  2. Set up an ICT Hub in collaboration with the Telecommunications Authority

  3. Expand technical education for skilled workforce development

  4. Launch Computer Science in the Management stream from the next academic session

  5. Start a 3-year Diploma in Computer Engineering under CTEVT

Commitment and Conclusion

Reflecting on the community’s contribution to this school and its role in uplifting education, it is now time to reengage all stakeholders—teachers, guardians, educators, and intellectuals—for the school’s continued growth.

The school community remains committed to providing timely, high-quality education in English, fostering a friendly and competitive environment, and preparing students to succeed in a global arena.

This effort requires motivated teachers and strengthened support. We invite all education supporters, intellectuals, and local guardians to join hands in building a reliable and technically advanced school.
