What is Cloud Computing

As we know, computer network technologies have progressed in the past few years. Since the Internet (the most popular computer network) has shown its existence. Since the computer network has been very advancement, and there has been a lot of research in the field of technologies such as Distributed Computing and Cloud Computing.

These technical terms are both of the same stuff as Distributed Computing and Cloud Computing, but there are just differences in both of them. So if you have to understand Cloud Computing then you also need to understand the Distributed Computing. The Global Industry Analyst has to tell that this global cloud computing service market will become a business of up to $ 327 billion by 2020. Nearly all the companies are using Cloud Computing Service today, either directly or indirectly.

In the instance, if we talk, whenever we use Amazon or Google's service, we are storing all our data in the cloud. If you use Twitter, then you indirectly use the cloud computing service. Distributed Computing and Cloud Computing are so popular because we needed better computing networks so that our data could be processed fast. So what's the cloud computing today? You will know about this completely in the article such as what is cloud computing with the example, history of cloud computing, types of cloud computing, cloud computing technologies and cloud computing services.

What is the Cloud?

Cloud is a design of large interconnected networks of servers, which is designed to deliver computer resources. There is no concept of a place where it is coming from where and where is going. If I say it in a simple language, if a user uses it then it will feel that it is using huge unplugged computing power, in which the user can do all the things according to its needs from their email to the mapping of the mobile application.

There is nothing like this "The Cloud" in the language of business. Could Computing is a collection of licensed service which is provided by different vendors. Instead of Cloud Service technology management and technology acquisition, they replace them with different products and these products are managed from another place and one thing is only active when it is needed.

What is Cloud Computing?

If someone provides a service through the Internet then it is called Cloud Computing. This service can be anything like Off-Site Storage or computing resources. Or else, if Cloud Computing is a computing style such as massively scalable and flexible IT-related capabilities is provided as a service with the help of Internet Technologies. These services include facilities like infrastructure, platform, application and storage space. In this, users use services according to their needs and pay for the services they use. For this, they do not have to create their own infrastructure.

Nowadays there is a lot of competition in the world and in such a way people should serve the Internet at all times, that too without any delay. If an application is ever freezing then many people feel dissatisfaction. People need their needs service 24/7. We cannot emphasize the old mainframe computing to meet these requirements so that Cloud distributed computing technology to solve this problem. Due to which large businesses began to do all their work very easily. 

For example, Facebook has 1 billion active users and nearly 2.2 million photos are uploaded every day, around 3.3 billion photos are uploaded every month, 1 million websites use Facebook and 50 million users per second. In such a traditional computing system cannot solve these problems, but we need something better which can be done. Therefore, Cloud Distributed Computing is required only for such computing.

Example of cloud computing:

  • YouTube is one of the best examples of cloud storage that hosts the video files of millions of users.
  • Facebook, Picasa, and Flickr, which host hundreds of millions of digital photographs in their servers.
  • Google Docs which is one of the best examples of cloud computing which allows users to upload their Presentations, Word documents, and Spreadsheets to their data servers. With this also gives the option to edit and publish those documents.

Features and Benefits of Cloud Computing:

There are many attractive benefits of Cloud Computing, which are using a lot of businesses and people.

There are major five benefits of cloud computing:

  • Self-service provisioning: End users can do any work they need most. From this, the IT administrators, who previously used to manage and provide your computer resources, do not need them.
  • Elasticity: Companies can also raise and earn according to their needs of computing. This is a benefit from the fact that before the local infrastructure used to have a lot of investments, it closed completely now, that makes companies very beneficial.
  • Pay per use: Compute resources are measured in granular level. The users from which they have to pay only the resources and workloads they use.
  • Workload resilience: Cloud Service providers often use redundant resources so that they can get resilient storage and with this, they can keep the key work on users who have multiple global areas.
  • Migration Flexibility: Organization According to your needs, some workloads can transfer from one cloud platform to another, without any difficulty and automatically saving money as well.

History of cloud computing:

Cloud computing was started in the 1960s. The computer industry had computing according to its potential benefits, according to a service income utility. But earlier there was lack of computing, connectivity, and bandwidth, which was not possible to computing implement as a utility. It was not possible until the availability of Internet bandwidth on a large scale until 1990. After which, computing could be considered as a service.

Salesforce successfully implemented SaaS commercially in 1990 for the first time. After which AWS did in 2002, which provided many services like online storage, machine learning, and computation. Today, there are many small providers like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, which are combined with the AWS, cloud-based services are offering to other individuals, small businesses and global enterprise.

Cloud Computing vs. Distributed Computing

1) Goals

The distributed computing provides collaborative resource sharing by connecting with other users and resources. Distributed Computing always strives to provide administrative scalability (size of the domain in registration), size scalability, and geographical scalability (maximum distance between the nodes in the distributed system).

On-demand environment keeps in mind the service delivery, with which the target goal can be achieved. With this, it also fails to provide more scalability and transparency, security, monitoring, and management. Cloud computing is done with services transparency in the cloud without physical implementation.

2) Types

Distributed Computing is divided into three types:

A. Distributed Information Systems:

The main objective of these systems is to distribute this information across different server's various communication models such as RMI and RPC.

B. Distributed Pervasive Systems:

These systems are mainly made of embedded computing devices such as portable ECG monitors, wireless cameras, PDAs and mobile devices. These systems can identify their instability in compare of any traditional distributed systems.

C. Distributed Computing Systems:

In these types of systems, computers that are connected to the network, are interconnected with each other to track their actions.

Cloud Computing is divided into four types:

A. Private Cloud:

This is a cloud infrastructure that serves all the applications of a particular IT organization so that it is over the entire control data, which is unlikely to be a security breach.

B. Public Cloud:

Another type of cloud provider of this type of service is the host and those who are later publicized. Users do not control anything in such cloud nor can they see the infrastructure. For example, both Google and Microsoft themselves own their own cloud infrastructure and later give access to the public.

C. Community Cloud:

This is multi-tenant cloud infrastructure, with which cloud is shared between other IT organizations.

D. Hybrid Cloud:

This is the combination of 2 or more different types of clouds (Private, Public, and Community), which only create a Hybrid cloud infrastructure, where each cloud remains a single entity, but all clouds combine to create multiple deployment models, which are beneficial. Are there

3) Characteristics:

The task is distributed in Distributed Computing, between the different computers so that with the help of Remote Method Invocations at the same time the computational functions can be performed, cloud computing systems also use the on-demand network model which provides access.

Types of Cloud Computing:

Cloud computing can be divided into three main components which are: IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.

i) Infrastructure as a service (IaaS):

These services belong to self-service models, which are used to monitor, access, and manage the infrastructure from a remote location. i.e. - Servers, Firewalls, Routers, CDNs

ii) Platform as a service (PaaS):

It provides a self-service module of software developers to manage computing infrastructure from Centralized IT operations. i.e. - Email services: Gmail, Outlook.com

3) Software as a service (SaaS):

SaaS access the web to deliver the application that is managed by the third-party vendors and whose user interface can only be accessed by the client. Application Building: Google App Engine, Cloud Foundry, and SAP Hana.
