
Rastriya Anusandhan Bibhag Vacancy 2082: Investigation Officer and Assistant Posts
Government of Nepal, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, National Investigation Department (NID), Barmahal, Kathmandu has published a vacancy notice for permanent appointment in the following positions through open and inclusive competitive examinations, based on the consent received from the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Applications are invited from eligible Nepali citizens who meet the prescribed minimum qualifications as per the Nepal Special Service Rules, 2044. Applications failing to meet requirements or submitted after the deadline will not be processed.

As per the mandamus order of the Supreme Court (Writ No. 078-wo-0362, dated 2079/10/24), adjustments in the number of inclusive category posts will be made in accordance with legal provisions, including the compensation of posts lost in FY 2079/80 due to lack of inclusion.
Minimum Educational Qualification

For Investigation Officer (Gazetted Third Class Equivalent):

At least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.

If obtained from a foreign institution, an equivalence certification from Tribhuvan University is mandatory.

For Investigation Assistant (Non-Gazetted Second Class Equivalent):

At least a Proficiency Certificate Level (Intermediate) or equivalent from a recognized institution.

If obtained from a foreign institution, an equivalence certification from a government agency is mandatory.

For SLC certificates issued before 2078/09/07, candidates must have at least D+ in each subject (theory and practical) and a minimum CGPA of 1.6 in Classes 11 and 12.

Application Submission Deadline

Applications must be submitted within 30 days from the date of first publication in Gorkhapatra (i.e., up to 2082/06/12).

With double fees, applications can be submitted within an additional 7 days (i.e., up to 2082/06/19).

Application Fees (Revenue) and Payment Method

Application Submission Process

Applicants must log in at https://rabvac.nidept.gov.np, fill in personal details, and upload required documents.

After verification, the department will issue a roll number and publish a notice on the website.

Applicants can then log in with their ID and Password to download and print the admit card.
Mandatory Documents for Online Application
Applicants must upload scanned copies/PDF (maximum size: 200 KB) of the following documents:

Recently taken passport-size photograph.

Scan copy/photo of Nepali citizenship certificate.

Scan copy/photo of applicant’s signature in black ink on plain paper.

Transcript/marksheet and character certificate of the required educational qualification.

Inclusive group certificates (as applicable):

Adivasi/Janajati: Certificate from Nepal Adivasi/Janajati Upliftment National Foundation.

Madhesi: Certificate verified by Chief District Officer on the recommendation of the concerned local authority.

Dalit: Certificate from National Dalit Commission.

Backward Area: Citizenship certificate from Achham, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Jumla, Dolpa, Bajhang, Bajura, Mugu, or Humla districts, and recommendation from local authority within the last 3 months confirming permanent residence.

All certificates must be genuine; corrected or altered certificates will not be accepted.

Detailed Medical Examination

Candidates who pass the written exam must undergo a compulsory detailed health check-up at hospitals/health institutions designated by the National Investigation Department.

Examination fees will be borne by the candidates as determined by the hospital.

Only candidates declared “fit” will be allowed to proceed to further stages.

Other Instructions

Recruitment will follow the Nepal Special Service Rules, 2044 and the General Principles of Appointment and Promotion, 2066 of the National Investigation Department.

Candidates must bring Admit Card and Original Citizenship Certificate to each exam stage.
-
Results of each exam stage will be published, and only successful candidates will qualify for the next stage.

Written exam qualifiers will undergo a detailed health check-up at Nepal APF Hospital as per syllabus requirements.
-
Candidates declared medically fit will only proceed to subsequent stages.
-
During the final stage, candidates must present original and certified copies of citizenship, educational certificates, and inclusive group certificates.
-
Candidates convicted of moral turpitude or associated with illegal organizations will not be allowed to participate.

Applications submitted after the deadline or without fulfilling requirements will be rejected.

Candidates must have obtained the minimum required qualification before the application deadline.

Candidates with foreign academic degrees must have equivalence certification issued by the Government of Nepal.
