Lumbini Technological University to Launch Postgraduate Programs
Lumbini Technological University was established on Asar 18, 2079 in Nepalgunj under the Pride Project of the Government of Lumbini Province. The university is now preparing to begin postgraduate-level teaching for the first time.
Start of Postgraduate Teaching from Asar 2082
The university began undergraduate teaching in four different programs under the Institute of Engineering and Information Technology from the fiscal year 2080/81. Now, it is set to commence postgraduate programs from Asar.
According to Registrar Reg Bahadur Bhandari of the university, all preparations for postgraduate classes have been completed.
“We have been teaching undergraduate courses under four programs since fiscal year 2080/81. From Asar, we are starting postgraduate level teaching for the first time,” he said. “We had published a notice for applications. A total of 38 students applied. The entrance exam is scheduled for Jestha 17. After that, regular classes will begin from Asar.”
Postgraduate Programs to Begin: MTech in IT and MTech in Computer Science
Registrar Bhandari shared that the university will begin with two programs: MTech in IT and MTech in Computer Science.
“For MTech in IT, students who have completed undergraduate degrees in BCA, BIM, BIT, ICT Education, or BBIS are eligible,” he said. “For MTech in Computer Science, students with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering can apply.”
Admission Quota and Expansion Plan
“We had allocated 15 seats each for both programs in the first year, but due to the higher number of applicants, we plan to enroll 20 students per program,” he added. “We have completed preparations regarding faculty, labs, and curriculum.”
Undergraduate Programs and Current Operations
The university conducted its first orientation program on Mangsir 13, 2080 and has been offering the following four undergraduate programs:

B.Tech in Civil Engineering
Currently, 165 students are enrolled at the university. The first batch is now in the fourth semester. Each program spans four years across eight semesters.
Campus Relocation and New Facilities
Initially, the university operated from its administrative building in Nepalgunj for about one and a half years. Since Poush, classes have been held at three buildings leased from the Agricultural Development Bank’s regional office in Dhamboji, Nepalgunj. The university has signed a five-year lease agreement for the buildings. The Dean’s Office of Engineering and Information Technology also operates from this location.
