TU BIT Entrance Exam 2083: Eligibility, Fees and Schedule

TU Publishes Complete BIT Entrance Examination Schedule for 2083

The Tribhuvan University Institute of Science and Technology, Office of the Dean, Examination Section, Balkhu, has published a very urgent notice regarding new student admission for 2083 to the four-year Bachelor in Information Technology (BIT) program, which is taught under the grading system within the semester examination system.

The entrance examination and new admission schedule for 2083 has been published for students interested in admission to the constituent campuses under the Institute. According to the notice issued by the Assistant Dean on 2083/03/05, the details are as follows:

1. Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• 10+2 or equivalent: Applicants from any stream at the higher secondary or secondary school level must have studied English and either Mathematics or Computer as subjects carrying 100 full marks each in Grade 11 or Grade 12. They must have obtained at least a C grade in English and either Mathematics or Computer in the Grade 11/12 or equivalent examination, passed all other subjects with at least GPA 1.6, and obtained a minimum final CGPA of 1.8.

• Proficiency Certificate Level: Applicants must have passed the Proficiency Certificate Level or an equivalent examination in any faculty from TU or a TU-recognised educational institution. They must have studied English and either Mathematics or Computer as subjects carrying 100 full marks each and passed with at least a second division.

• A Level: Applicants must have passed the A Level examination after studying English and either Mathematics or Computer as subjects carrying 100 full marks each, with at least a D grade, with or without a small letter.

• CTEVT diploma: Students who have completed a three-year diploma from CTEVT must have studied English and either Mathematics or Computer as subjects carrying 100 full marks each and passed with at least a second division.

• Foreign educational institutions: Applicants who obtained their academic qualifications from a foreign educational institution or university must submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Curriculum Development Centre, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

2. Completely Online Application Process and Fee

• Application procedure: Applicants must personally visit the BIT entrance examination link available on the Institute of Science and Technology website at https://iost.tu.edu.np, complete the application form, and submit it online through the same website. The form may be completed at any time during the specified dates from any location with internet access.

• Application opening date: The online entrance examination application form conducted by the Institute of Science and Technology will be made available from 10:00 AM on Thursday, 2083/03/11.

• Regular-fee application period: The application form will be available at the regular fee from 2083/03/11 to 2083/04/22 only.

• Double-fee application period: The form will be available at the double fee from 2083/04/23 to 2083/04/27. The online form will close automatically after the specified period.

• Entrance examination fee and payment method: The entrance examination fee is Rs. 1,850, in words, one thousand eight hundred fifty rupees only. The fee may be paid online using the application and link provided on the IOST website. Applicants must use the Product ID, voucher code, or Transaction ID received after payment to complete the application form. Students are encouraged to pay the fee and complete the form online.

• Alternative payment method: The fee may also be deposited into the account maintained in the name of the Institute of Science and Technology through any branch of Global IME Bank Limited. Applicants paying through a bank voucher must enter the bank voucher number in the application form. The application fee will not be refunded.

3. Document Uploads and Other Instructions

Applicants must follow the instructions available on the online portal and upload the following documents to verify the information provided and their minimum qualifications:

• Grade 11 mark sheet and Grade 12 transcript; or

• Grade 11 and Grade 12 transcripts, or the Proficiency Certificate Level transcript. This provision applies only to applicants who passed under the former Higher Secondary or Proficiency Certificate Level system.

Students with NG in Grade 12

Students who have received Non-Graded status in up to two subjects in Grade 12 may also complete the entrance examination form.

Even if such examinees are included in the merit list after the entrance examination results are published, they will not be eligible for admission until they clear the NG subjects.

After submitting a mark sheet showing that the NG subjects have been cleared, they may be admitted only if a quota remains vacant at a campus.

Admit Card and Examination Centre Details

• Applicants must print the Acknowledgement Page received after completing and submitting the online application form.

• Once the application form is approved, the admit card will be made available online in phases. Applicants must download and print the admit card in colour.

• Applicants must appear at the district or centre they selected and bring their admit card to sit for the examination.

• Along with the admit card, applicants must bring a photo identification document, such as a citizenship certificate, driving licence, voter identity card, national identity card, or admit card from their most recent academic level.

4. Selection of Examination District

Students must select their preferred examination district while completing the online application form. The available districts and locations are:

1. Kathmandu Valley

2. Morang

3. Sunsari

4. Saptari

5. Siraha

6. Dhanusha

7. Parsa

8. Chitwan

9. Kaski

10. Rupandehi

11. Banke

12. Kanchanpur

5. Entrance Examination Details

• Entrance examination date and time: Saturday, 2083/04/30, at 8:00 AM.

• Entrance examination centre: The examination centres will be published later.

• Marks and syllabus: The entrance examination will carry a total of 100 marks. Based on the curriculum of Grades 11 and 12, the Proficiency Certificate Level, or an equivalent level, the examination will include 50 marks from English and 50 marks from either Mathematics or Computer. Applicants may select either Mathematics or Computer.

Question Paper Format

• Group A: 50 marks — English, Grades 11–12

• Group B: 50 marks — Mathematics, Grade 11, or Computer, Grades 11–12

Objective or multiple-choice questions will be asked from the stated subject groups based on the curriculum. All entrance examination questions will be objective, and there will be no negative marking for any question.

• Pass marks: Applicants must obtain at least 35 percent of the total marks to pass the entrance examination.

6. Merit Placement and Additional Information

• Merit placement: If examinees obtain equal marks in the entrance examination results, the merit placement will first be determined based on the marks obtained in Mathematics or Computer in the entrance examination. If the marks remain equal, the marks obtained in English will be considered. If all these marks are equal, the marks obtained at the lower academic level will be considered in sequence. The marks used for these placement criteria will not be published.
