TU Publishes B.Tech. Food Technology Admission and Entrance Examination Schedule

Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology, Office of the Dean, Kirtipur, has opened applications for new student admission for the year 2083 to the four-year bachelor’s-level B.Tech. (Food Technology) program conducted under the semester examination system. Interested students must apply online.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • 10+2 Science, I.Sc., or equivalent: Applicants must have studied Chemistry and Mathematics, each carrying 100 full marks, and passed with at least a second division or a Final Grade C. They must also have passed English carrying at least 100 full marks. Applicants must have obtained at least GPA 1.6 in the other subjects.

  • Three-year CTEVT diploma: Applicants must have studied English, Chemistry, and Mathematics, each carrying 100 full marks, and passed with at least a second division.

  • A Level: Applicants must have studied English, Chemistry, and Mathematics, each carrying 100 full marks, and passed each subject with at least a D grade, with or without a small letter.

  • Foreign educational institutions: Applicants who obtained their academic qualifications from a foreign educational institution or university must submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Curriculum Development Centre, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

Application Process and Fees

Applicants must personally complete the entrance examination application form available on the official website of the Institute of Science and Technology at https://iost.tu.edu.np and submit it online through the same website.

  • Regular fee: Rs. 1,650: From Monday, 2083/03/15 to Friday, 2083/04/29.

  • Double fee: Rs. 3,300: From 2083/04/30 to 2083/05/04.

The entrance examination fee may be deposited into the office’s account through any branch of Global IME Bank Limited or paid online through ConnectIPS or a bank voucher. Applicants must enter the bank voucher number or Product ID while completing the form.

Entrance Examination Details

  • Examination date and time: Sunday, 7 Bhadra 2083, at 1:00 PM.

  • Examination centres: To be published later. While completing the application form, students must select one district from Kathmandu Valley, Sunsari, Kaski, or Chitwan.

  • Examination format: The entrance examination will consist of objective or multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 100 marks:

    • Chemistry: 25 marks

    • Mathematics: 25 marks

    • Physics: 25 marks

    • Language Aptitude (English): 25 marks

  • Negative marking: There will be no negative marking for any question.

  • Duration: The examination will be two hours long.

  • Pass marks: Applicants must obtain at least 35 percent marks to pass the entrance examination.

Additional Information

  • Merit placement: If applicants obtain equal marks, their scores in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and English, respectively, followed by their marks at the lower academic level, will be used to determine their placement.

  • Admission process: After the results are published, each examinee must download their Score Sheet and contact the college where they wish to enrol.

  • Special provision for Central Campus of Technology, Dharan: Admission under the regular and donation quotas at this campus will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination. Further information is available by calling the campus at 025-530228 or visiting https://cct.tu.edu.np.

  • Inclusive quota and scholarship: The inclusive quota will be implemented in accordance with TU Rules 2074, while scholarships will be provided in accordance with the Institute’s Operational Guidelines 2079, including the 2082 amendment.

Applicants must bring a colour print of their entrance card and a photo identification document to appear in the examination.
