Academic Program
Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (CMLT)
The Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (CMLT) at ShiGan Health Foundation is offered through the School of Allied Health Science, ShiGan College. The program is affiliated with CTEVT.
CMLT prepares students for technical work in medical laboratories. Medical laboratory technicians support healthcare services by conducting laboratory tests that assist in disease diagnosis and prevention. The program combines theoretical study with laboratory practice, allowing students to develop academic knowledge and applied technical skills.
The course also includes practical training through on-the-job placement at the laboratories of Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital. This training component gives students exposure to laboratory procedures in a healthcare setting.
Eligibility, Admission and Fee
Eligibility: Students must have passed SLC/SEE with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Students with TSLC in Medical Laboratory Technology must have at least 67%.
Admission: Admission requires students to pass an entrance examination conducted by CTEVT.
Fee: The total fee for the CMLT program is NPR 370,000.
Learning Environment and Facilities
ShiGan Health Foundation supports CMLT learning through laboratory facilities and practical exposure. The laboratory setup includes equipment such as fluorescent and stereoscopic microscopes and PCR machines.
These facilities are relevant to medical laboratory education because students need practical experience with instruments, testing methods, and laboratory processes. The academic environment is connected with classroom instruction, laboratory-based learning, and practical training.

Faculty and Academic Support
The CMLT program is taught by experienced teachers. The academic approach focuses on helping students understand medical laboratory concepts and apply them through practical work.
ShiGan also offers scholarship support to 10% of its student body. High-performing students may receive support through the Japan-Nepal Friendship Scholarship and the Bom Prasad-Santa Maya Rai Memorial Prizes.
International Cultural Exchange
ShiGan students participate in cultural exchange with students from Japan each year. This activity adds an international exposure component to student life and supports interaction beyond regular classroom learning.
Practical Training
Practical training is an important part of the CMLT program at ShiGan Health Foundation. The program concludes with on-the-job training at the laboratories of Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital.
This training connects classroom and laboratory learning with applied practice in a healthcare environment. It helps students become familiar with laboratory workflow, testing processes, and professional expectations in medical laboratory settings.
Student Support and Scholarships
ShiGan Health Foundation offers scholarship support to 10% of its student body. It also provides recognition opportunities for high-performing students through the Japan-Nepal Friendship Scholarship and the Bom Prasad-Santa Maya Rai Memorial Prizes.
