14th Pokhara Mahotsav Concludes on Sunday

Pokhara: The 14th Pokhara Mahotsav concluded on Sunday, 11 Poush 2082 . The festival, organized by United Club and held at Amar Singh Chowk from 29 Poush 2082, was formally closed by Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya during a ceremony.

Mayor Acharya stated that Pokhara Mahotsav is a distinct festival. He said it is Pokhara’s leading festival and added that the metropolitan city has been taking it forward by including it in the “Red Book.”

He also expressed commitment to support and cooperate from the metropolitan city side for the construction of the United Hostel currently being built by the club.

Remarks From Guests and Representatives

Rupa Rural Municipality Chairperson Navaraj Ojha praised United Club for organizing the Pokhara Mahotsav and for its work in areas such as the construction of an open zoo in Pokhara, the hostel under construction in the education sector, and initiatives in the health sector.

He also thanked the organizers for supporting local products at the festival and for enabling farmers from his rural municipality to participate.

Vinod Rauniyar, Director of the product “Better” under main sponsor Ravi & Sunny Industries Pvt. Ltd., said he felt proud to have been able to collaborate with Pokhara Mahotsav for the past six years.

Pokhara Ward No. 14 Chairperson Bodh Bahadur Karki stated that he has closely observed the club’s social work and said the metropolitan city should take ownership of the United Hostel constructed by United Club.

Pokhara Ward No. 15 Chairperson Toran Bahadur Baniya described the festival as a celebration and said it contributes to the promotion of local products.

Pokhara Mahotsav Described as a Social Campaign

During the program, Social Welfare Council Vice-Chairperson Parmeshwor Karki, Amar Singh Secondary School Principal Balram Pokharel, and advisor Tikabahadur Karki stated that Pokhara Mahotsav is not only a festival but also a social campaign of United Club.

They thanked everyone who participated in and supported the campaign.

Founder Chairperson Himalaya Bakhrel said the club will use the savings from the festival for the construction of the United Hostel being built in Arghalema.

He also requested Mayor Acharya to facilitate the construction of a road connecting Pokhara Wards No. 27 and 28 to improve access to the hostel.

Organizers’ Statements on Audience Support

United Club Chairperson Lokbahadur Thapa said the main role in making the 14th Pokhara Mahotsav grand and orderly was played by the audience.

He stated that the club organizes Pokhara Mahotsav and spends the proceeds on social work, and therefore all visitors have directly or indirectly supported United Club’s social initiatives.

The program was conducted by General Secretary Dinesh Sunar, while Senior Vice-Chairperson Ganesh Timilsina delivered the welcome speech.

TikTok Competition Winner and Donation Support

In the same event, Gole Lama won the title of the TikTok competition.

The TikTok competition was held with sponsorship from Ashish Institute. Along with the title, Lama received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000.

Lama provided the amount he received to Dilmaya Nepali of Bhurjungkhola, Kaski, who is affected by cancer.

Lucky Draw Winners From Sponsor Stall

Among consumers who purchased goods worth Rs. 1,000 from the main sponsor Better Home Appliances stall, the following winners were announced:

• First lucky consumer: Gyal Bahadur Gurung of Kazipokhari, Pokhara — received a 1-ton Better AC

  • Gurung had purchased a 1-liter rice cooker from the Better stall.

• Second lucky consumer: Ayush Gurung of Lamachaur, Pokhara-16 — received a 15-liter Victory water dispenser/Monaco geyser

• Third lucky consumer: Shishir Acharya of Pokhara — received a Better Breath 90 glasshood chimney

• Fifth lucky consumers: Susan Gurung and Bharat Parajuli of Kazipokhari

Support to District Sports Committee

Raju Shrestha, former chairperson and coordinator of the festival’s performance sub-committee, stated that the club provided Rs. 100,000 in cash to the District Sports Development Committee, Kaski.

Attendance and Business Volume

The festival’s publicity coordinator Sunar said that nationally recognized artists performed daily, and audiences also enjoyed live concerts in the evening.

Jairam Acharya, coordinator of the finance and stall management sub-committee, said that during the 13-day festival, more than 250,000 visitors observed the event directly, and information received from business owners indicated transactions exceeding Rs. 90 million.

He added that audiences also liked the festival because special space was provided for local products, handicrafts, and agricultural items, among others.
