Dhaulagiri Campus Celebrates 63rd Anniversary

At a program held in Baglung, participants stressed that higher education must be made timely and employment-oriented. The event was organized on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Dhaulagiri Campus, with an interaction program on the theme “Higher Education in Dhaulagiri: Prospects and Challenges.” Participants remarked that the present education system has failed to connect students with the soil, creating difficulties.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mahashram Sharma, Chairperson of the National Examination Board (NEB), said it is wrong to claim that people go abroad because Nepal has nothing.

He stated, “It is incorrect to say that everyone goes abroad because there is nothing in Nepal. There is something here, but not as much as there should be. The reason for increasing outmigration is that we have failed to create confidence that things can be achieved within the country.” He added that students should be allowed to go abroad to gain new skills, capacity, and education.

Baglung Municipality Mayor, Basant Kumar Shrestha, urged making Dhaulagiri Campus a shared institution for all.

“At present, the campus belongs only to students, teachers, and staff who come here,” he said. “To make it everyone’s campus, the institution must work harder. Only then will the community wholeheartedly support it.” He assured that the municipality is ready to support the campus if it presents a clear action plan.

Harihar Sharma, Secretary of Nepali Congress Baglung and Deputy Mayor of Jaimini Municipality, and Tej Bahadur Thapa ‘Tilak,’ Chairperson of Rastriya Janamorcha Baglung and Vice Chairperson of Kathekhola Rural Municipality, stressed that educational institutions must focus on developing students in every possible way.

Several individuals shared their views during the event, including:

  • Rajan Kumar Shakyal, President of Baglung Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Biplav Sharma, Coordinator of the BBA program at Dhaulagiri Campus, highlighted progress achieved in the BBA course. Dr. Dev Bahadur Kshetri presented a report on the subjects recently chosen by students.

Established on Jestha 1, 2019 B.S., the campus formally began classes from Bhadra 2 of the same year. Although the campus traditionally celebrates its anniversary on Shree Panchami, this date had been overshadowed. To highlight the significance of the original establishment day, this year’s anniversary program was organized on the foundation date.
