MIT to Host Guinness World Record Attempt in Kathmandu
A special event will be held on Magh 6, 2082 (January 20, 2026) to set a new Guinness World Record under the organization of Model Institute of Technology (MIT) College, located in Bagbazar, Kathmandu.
Renowned memory athlete and former Guinness World Record holder Mr. Krishna Pandey will attempt to set the world record in the category titled “Fastest Time to Spell 50 Words Backwards” (spelling fifty words backwards in the shortest time).
Venue, Collaboration, and Partner
The event will be conducted at Kathmandu Model Secondary School, Bagbazar. KMSS will collaborate in the program, and “Best Western Plus” has joined as the hospitality partner.
Record Attempt and Verification Process
This record attempt will be conducted in accordance with the strict rules and verification process of Guinness World Records.
According to MIT Co-Founder RK Dahal, all preparations have been completed to run the program in a fully controlled and distraction-free environment. For transparency, the following arrangements have been made:

All collected evidence materials will be sent to the Guinness World Records headquarters for verification.
Organizer’s Perspective
The organizing institution, MIT, has described this initiative as a commitment to excellence and an effort to help Nepali talent gain global recognition.
MIT College, affiliated with an international American university, stated that the program is intended to support the development of students’ confidence and leadership skills beyond classroom learning.
Statement from Krishna Pandey
Speaking about his record attempt, Krishna Pandey said that after achieving a Guinness World Record in New York, it is a matter of pride for him to be able to attempt it again in his own country, Nepal. He expressed confidence that this attempt will validate the capabilities of Nepali youth at a global level and inspire them.
Program Plan on the Main Attempt Day
To ensure successful and transparent implementation, formal agreements have already been completed among the organizer, collaborating institution, and relevant stakeholders.
On the main record-attempt day, Magh 6, a limited formal program and media interaction will also be organized.
