One-Day Cybersecurity Seminar Held at Sahid Dasharath Chand Secondary School

One-Day Seminar on Foundations of Cybersecurity and Safe Digital Practices

A one-day seminar on “Foundations of Cybersecurity and Safe Digital Practices” was held at Sahid Dasharath Chand Secondary School, Mechinagar-13, Charali, Jhapa, by Team Cybershield, a group of BIT students from Padmashree College.

The program was organized to help students understand why online safety matters in everyday life. As students use the internet more often for study, social media, communication, and entertainment, the need to stay safe online has become increasingly important.

During the seminar, students learned about common cyber threats such as phishing, hacking, malware, and identity theft. The team explained these topics in a simple and practical way so that students could easily relate them to their own digital experiences.

The session also included useful tips on how to create strong passwords, recognize suspicious links, protect social media accounts, and keep personal information private. Instead of limiting the discussion to theory, the presenters focused on examples and situations that students may actually face while using the internet.

One of the most useful parts of the seminar was its interactive nature. Through discussion, demonstrations, and real-life examples, students were able to understand not only what cyber risks look like but also how to respond to them safely. Their active participation made the session lively and meaningful.

The program also drew attention to the importance of responsible digital behaviour. Students were encouraged to use technology wisely, think carefully before sharing anything online, and stay aware of how their online actions can affect both themselves and others.

The seminar served as a useful learning opportunity for the students. It helped them gain a clearer understanding of cybersecurity and reminded them that safe digital habits are now an important part of student life.
