The song “Banchha Banchha Mero Desh Banchha…”, with lyrics by writer Nainsingh Mahara, was released on Wednesday.

Vocals, music, and video cast

This patriotic song features the voice of Pramod Kharel and music by Hari Lamsal.

The video includes performances by Rajesh Hamal, Mahabir Pun, Pradeep Kumar Rai (Byakul Maila), social worker Anuradha Koirala, Olympian athlete Deepak Bista, Nainsingh Mahara, Miss Pavi, Astina Mahara, Animesh Mahara, Sabina Tamang, among others.

Directed by Dasharath Sunar, the video shares dreams and hopes about how the country can be built.

Background of the song and lyricist’s intent

Lyricist Mahara said that the song was created at the time when a Nepali Congress–CPN-UML coalition government had just been formed.

He said, “The Congress–UML government was formed with the expectation that it would work in a way that would turn the despair among the people into hope. I wrote this on the track of whether that government would do anything that would communicate hope among the people.”

This is Mahara’s first song as a lyricist. He said, “At a time when despair is increasing in society, I have tried to share dreams and awaken hope through this song.”

Singer Pramod Kharel said that although politics and literature are different fields, the path chosen by Nainsingh is positive. He stated that the released song can communicate hope to society.

Reflections from artists and cultural figures

Journalist Purushottam Dahal said that art, literature, and culture are the identity of a nation and that without them the country cannot survive.

Lyricist Dr Bhola Rijal said that the patriotic song “Mero Desh Banchha” will add to the identity of Nainsingh, who has been building influence in politics. He remarked, “Watching Nain’s song reminded me of my old songs. I am also confident that the country will indeed be built.”

National anthem composer Byakul Maila said that writers should be able to bring out creations that lead society and the nation in a positive direction.

At the programme, former minister Bhaktabahadur Balayar, Olympian athlete Deepak Bista, Deuda singer Nandakrishna Joshi, Nepali Congress leader Ramhari Khatriwoda, Urmila Thapaliya, and other speakers extended their best wishes for the success of the song.
