Siddhartha Secondary School Wins 8th President Running Shield
Siddhartha Secondary School, Syangja, has won the title of the 8th inter-school President Running Shield tournament organised by Phedikhola Rural Municipality.
In the competition held over three days at the Fedikhola stadium, Siddhartha Secondary School (Siddhartha MaVi) secured the title with 18 gold, six silver and four bronze medals.
Cash Prizes and Top Three Schools
As the title winner, Siddhartha Secondary School received the shield along with a trophy, medals, certificates and 30,000 rupees in cash.
Similarly, Chandidanda Secondary School, which finished second with seven gold, five silver and seven bronze medals, received 20,000 rupees. Damgade Secondary School (Damgade MaVi), which came third with four gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze medals, received 10,000 rupees.
Sports Included in the Tournament
The tournament featured competitions in volleyball, kabaddi, running, karate, high jump, long jump, javelin throw and shot put.
Distributing prizes to the winners, Rural Municipality Chairperson Ghanshyam Subedi said that sports help develop confidence, leadership skills and discipline among students.
Role of Sports in Student Development
Subedi further stated that the tournament plays an important role in promoting students’ physical and mental development as well as discipline.
A total of 11 schools within the rural municipality took part in the competition.
