Annual Examination for Class 12 Commences Today: Over 4 Lakh Students to Participate

The annual examination for class 12 commences today, 9th May 2023, and will continue until 19th May 2023. The Controller of Examination, Krishna Sharma, stated that the exam would be held from 8 am to 12 noon in 1 thousand 453 examination centers. More than 4 lakh 67 thousand students have filled the form for the examination this year.

Grade Enhancement Exam: Over 56,000 Students to Participate

This year, over 56,000 students will participate in the grade enhancement exam. The board has stopped publishing question papers from the academic session 2077 due to Covid-19. As a result, the question papers are sent online, and examination centers print and distribute them.

Revised Letter Grading Guidelines 2078: A Boon for 58,000 Students

Last year, 58,000 students who received NG (non-graded) in more than two subjects benefited from the government's revised Letter Grading Guideline 2078. The guideline stated that the examination should only be conducted in the subjects in which NG has been obtained. However, students will be allowed to take the exam only in the subjects in which they received NG.

Amendment to the Guideline: Students Failing in Two or Less Subjects Allowed to Take Exam for Three Years

The Ministerial level meeting has decided that students failing in two or fewer subjects would be allowed to take exams for three years only in those subjects in which they fail in the same year or above. The board has stated that this amendment was made to prevent dropouts after class 12.

Chairman of the National Examination Board, Mahashram Sharma, said that the decision was taken to prevent students from dropping out after class 12, as some students stop studying because they find it difficult to repeat the same class or take the exam in all subjects when they receive NG in more than two subjects.

New Guidelines:

New guidelines for the grade enhancement exams have been introduced by the government of Nepal for class 12th students. In an effort to prevent dropouts, the revised Letter Grading Guideline, 2078, states that students who have received an NG (Non-Grade) can only take the grade enhancement exam in those subjects. Previously, students were only allowed to take the exam for the subjects in which they received an NG, if they had received two or less NGs. However, now students who fail in two or fewer subjects will be allowed to take exams for up to three years in the same subject only.

The change in guidelines was made to reduce the pressure on students who were previously required to retake exams for all subjects in which they had received an NG. The Chairman of the National Examination Board, Mahashram Sharma, stated that the previous system led to depression in students and was a cause of high dropout rates after class 12th.

The new guidelines have been amended to ensure that students only take the exams in those subjects in which they failed to meet the specified minimum grade. This change will ensure that students can avoid retaking exams for the same subject, which can lead to a lack of motivation and depression.

According to Chairman Sharma, this new arrangement of guidelines will not affect the educational quality of students. In fact, it will help students feel more positive about their studies and prevent them from dropping out. By studying the arrangements of other countries, the board has made this decision to provide convenience to students and help improve the overall education system.
