NEB Class 12 Board Exam Decided to Conduct After Chhat:

The National Examination Board (NEB) has decided to conduct this year's Class 12 examination immediately after Chhath. A meeting of the board held on Sunday evening has decided to take the exam after passing the working procedure.

The board is going to make public the schedule of the examination from the second week of Mangsir.

The board has decided to conduct the examination on the basis of 40 percent assessment of class 11, 40 percent of class 12, and experimental 20 percent from class 12.

The board has made arrangements for the examinees to take the exam at their own school or at a nearby school. The board has prepared the working procedure after the last cabinet meeting approved the policy to take the examination carefully by following the method, procedure, and methodology.

"As soon as the cabinet gives policy approval to the Ministry of Education, the ministry has directed the board to manage and conduct the examination," said Deepak Sharma, joint secretary, and spokesperson of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology.

On the same basis, the board meeting has decided to conduct the examination. This year's exam will be of 1 to 1.5 hours. The board will prepare a new question paper on the basis of 40 percent marks. If it is impossible to transport the question paper, it is prepared to send it by email.

Chairman of the Board, Prada Chandra Mani Poudel, clarified that it has been decided to conduct the examination on the basis of percentage and not on the basis of marks.

According to him, they are preparing to conduct the examination after Chhath after completing the entire process. The ministry has decided to conduct the examination in a meeting after giving the authority to conduct and manage the examination by formulating working procedures.

The assessment system (grid) has been deactivated in this year's exams. That is, all the provisions including the process of asking such a number of questions, short and long answer processes have been removed from this text.

A meeting of the Curriculum Evaluation and Management Council chaired by the Minister of Education has decided to deactivate the grid system for this year, said Ministry spokesperson Sharma.

After the grid is removed, the board will prepare a question paper with 40 percent marks. The examination will be held on the same basis. The process of conducting the examination has started immediately after the decision of the board.

The work of distributing answer books to all the schools, preparing question papers, training the central chairperson, preparing examination criteria as per the health standards, and holding discussions with all the concerned bodies will start after the decade.

After the Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers stating that the Class 12 examination will be conducted in writing, the Council of Ministers had given in-principle consent on the same basis.

The board has made arrangements to give exams from the nearest schools on the basis of admit cards in this year's exams. Chairman Poudel clarified that he would not be allowed to appear in the examination without an admission card.

All the provincial offices of the board have traced the contacts of all the students and prepare statistics on the whereabouts of the students.

This year, around 432,000 students are participating in the examination in 115 subjects. Due to Covid-19, the postponed exam in April has been delayed for 8 months.
