Licensure Examination Dates

Eligibility Criteria for Licensure Examination

  1. Candidates appearing for the National Licensure Examination for Nurses (NLEN) must have successfully completed either the Proficiency Certificate Level in Nursing (PCL Nursing) or the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing).

  2. Candidates applying for the National Licensure Examination for Midwives (NLEM) should have completed a Bachelor's degree in Midwifery Science (BMS).

  3. For candidates participating in the National Specialization Registration Examination for Nurses (NSREN) for the first time, a Master's degree in nursing is required.

Important Dates for Online Form Submission

  • The online form submission will commence on Jestha 14, 2080, and will be open until Ashad 11, 2080.
  • In case of late submission, an additional period of Ashad 12 to Ashad14, 2080, will be available with a double fee.

Examination Schedule

  • The written examination for Nurses and Midwives will take place on Ashad 23, 2080 (Saturday).
  • The written examination for Specialist Nurses is scheduled for Ashad 25, 2080 (Monday).

Application Process

  • To fill out the online form for the Nurse and Midwife exams, visit the official website examnnc.org.np.
  • For Specialist Nurse applicants, the form can be accessed via a dedicated link on the Nepal Nursing Council's website (nnc.org.np/sp).
  • The submission of the application form is only possible online; no other means of submission will be accepted.

Examination Fees

  • The examination fee for Nurses is set at Rs. 3,100/-, and a late fee of Rs. 6,100/- will apply if the deadline is missed.
  • Midwife candidates are required to pay an examination fee of Rs. 4,100/-, with a late fee of Rs. 8,100/- for delayed submissions.
  • Specialist Nurses need to pay an examination fee of Rs. 5,100/-, and a late fee of Rs. 10,100/- applies for late submissions.
  • The fees should be paid through the secure online payment gateway Khalti.

Exam Structure and Passing Criteria

  • Both the Nursing and Midwifery categories will have a written examination consisting of 150 questions, carrying a total of 150 marks.
  • To pass the exam, candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks.
  • In the case of Midwifery, an additional 50 marks practical exam is conducted, where candidates must obtain a minimum of 80% marks to pass.
  • For the National Specialization Registration Examination for Nurses (NSREN), a Computer-Based Examination will be conducted with 150 questions and a pass mark requirement of 60%.

Retaking the Examination

  • Candidates failing either the written or practical examination for Midwifery must reapply by filling out another form.

Qualification Certificate Requirements

  • All educational qualification certificates must be published and released before the last date of form submission to qualify for the examination.

Separate Question Papers for Nursing Examinations

  • Candidates applying for the Proficiency Certificate Level in Nursing (PCL Nursing) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) must fill out the online form accordingly.
  • The Nepal Nursing Council will not be responsible for any errors if the forms are not filled correctly.
