Kathmandu University Issued Press Release:

Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavre, Nepal

 Date: Shrawan 7, 2077

Press Release

Kathmandu University has drawn serious attention to the news published under the headline "Allegations of irregularities against KU Vice-Chancellor" on page 5 of Kantipur Daily on August 22, 2020.

The publication of such misleading and untrue news in a national level magazine like Kantipur Daily has raised serious questions about the dignity, prestige, and credibility of this magazine.

We would like to clarify the following facts on behalf of the university:

  1. It was directed to form a three-member committee under the coordination of Hon'ble Dr. Usha Jha formed from the University Assembly held on 2076-10-13 to study the report on financial mismanagement mentioned in the news and submit it to the Assembly after studying the reality. As no written report was submitted by the committee at the 57th meeting of the university held on 2077-3-28, it was directed to hold a meeting of the committee as soon as possible and submit the report. Therefore, in case the meeting of the committee has not been held yet and the report with an opinion has not been prepared yet, it is informed that publishing news on the report is the wrong process.
  1. As the report is yet to be submitted by the committee in the 57th meeting of 2077-3-28, in case of directing to submit the report as soon as possible; The fact that the committee formed under the conveners of Hon'ble Dr. Usha Jha has been found to be involved in financial irregularities in the news is not based on facts.
  1. As far as the news has published false and misleading news that "Makju is one of the organizers of the hospital", Dhulikhel Hospital is not a privately run organization and there is no provision for a non-governmental organization in which the hospital cannot be run; We would like to clarify that all its assets belong to the Government of Nepal.
  1. We would like to clarify that the news published in the news is not based on the fact that the money of the university has been sent to the bank account of the Vice-Chancellor.
  1. As far as the news that the meeting of the University of 2076-10-13 has been "postponed" is wrong and the meeting of 2076-10-21 has been concluded amicably and with necessary decisions.
  1. Since the audit of all the financial activities of Kathmandu University will be done by the auditor appointed by the assembly, we would also like to clarify that all the financial transactions are done only in accordance with the rules and regulations of the university.

Therefore, the publication of the news has made us sad as it has tarnished the dignity of a reputed institution and has assassinated the character of high ranking officials of the university.
