KMC Planned for 30 Greenery Parks in Kathmandu:

Kathmandu metropolitans are now able to enjoy the greenery and open space. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has constructed more than 30 parks to protect the encroached public and historical lands.

KMC chief Vidya Sundar Shakya informed that the construction of the park has been given priority in the budget of the new fiscal year with the objective of developing it as an open area by conserving the encroached public land. Chief Shakya said, "We have moved forward by giving priority to the protection of open and public lands and the promotion of historically and environmentally important places."

“KMC is a densely populated city. Therefore, we have put forward a plan to conserve and make good use of such places for the people of the metropolis to enjoy in the open space, ”he added.“ We have also given priority to the Kathmandu recharge campaign for increasing greenery and groundwater storage. ”

The plans included by KMC in the budget of the Fiscal Year 2077/78 include Mahanagar Senior Citizens Park, Street Food Park, Kindergarten, Senior Citizens Ashram, Shaheed Park, Chess Park, Mahanagar Bajebajya Park, and Mahila Maitri Park. KMC has also put forward a plan to promote open space and greenery in 60 percent of the space in the mega hall, which is being promoted as a dream project. The Urban Planning Commission of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has informed that there is only 28 percent open space in Bhrikuti Mandap for the construction of the mega hall.

Similarly, KMC has completed the construction of Shaheed Dharmabhakta Mathema Park, Hanuman Park, Ganesh Mandir Park, Lokeshwar Mahadev Temple Complex Park, Tundal Devi Park and Tusal Park in the fiscal year 2076/77 BS.

The first phase of construction of Madan Bhandari Park, Sukedhara Krishna Galli Park, Bansbari Eco Park, and Tundal Devi Park in Ward 32 has also been completed. In the current Fiscal Year 2076/77, KMC has started Nyokha Park, Shanti Namuna Park, Gaurighat Green Park, Dhobikhola Park, Tripureshwar Senior Citizens Park, Kuleshwar Park, Kuleshwar Housing Area Park, Bagmati Nagar Park, Kumari Park, Ranibari Porpa Azima Park, Lagan Park. The construction of Kamalpokhari Park has already started.

KMC has also been emphasizing green promotion under the city partnership program with the neighboring municipalities. The construction of the park has been started by signing agreements with 10 municipalities of Kathmandu and Madhyapur Thimi Municipality.

According to Chief Shakya, Rs 110 million has been invested in Baudeshwar Bal Udyan in Tokha Municipality, War Memorial Park in Kirtipur, Budhanilkantha Park in Budhanilkantha, Tarkeshwar Dham Historical Park in Tarkeshwar Municipality, Ganeshman Memorial Park in Nagarjuna and Madan Bhandari Park in Chandragiri.
