NAST's 48th Academic Assembly

The Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) concluded its 48th academic assembly today, deciding to award 12 scientists, technologists, and talents in various fields.

The decision was made during a meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, chaired by Prime Minister and Chancellor KP Sharma Oli. According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, the awards will be presented based on recommendations by the selection and evaluation committee headed by NAST academics.

These awards are scheduled to be distributed during NAST's upcoming anniversary celebration.

Key Directives

(1) Prime Minister Oli directed the implementation of contribution-based pensions, amendments to the financial administration regulations, and the proposal for the 2066 amendment. He instructed that additional homework be conducted before presenting it at the next academic assembly.

(2) The Prime Minister urged NAST officials to establish systems that ensure timely and high-quality work execution.

(3) Minister of Education, Science, and Technology and co-chancellor Vidya Bhattarai emphasized the need to align NAST's procurement processes with the Public Procurement Act.

(4) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dilip Subba assured that necessary groundwork would be completed to introduce the proposed regulatory amendments.
